In the unlikely event that Hell exists, I will be EXTREMELY pissed off if that is where I end up just for not believing in God and for a bit of fornication and in spite of having been generally a good person who never intentionally harmed anyone. According to the faith, just one unrepentant sin lands one in the same fire as Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Jeffery Epstein and OJ.
That sounds like one of those weird American religions.
Try the Church of England. You sin all week, apologise on Sunday and you are good to go.

And yet you still might get stuck in Purr-gatory. That's the pits! That's one hell of a good joke.

That's one hell of a good joke. It was really burning to be said.

If one little mistake that you may have forgotten to ask forgiveness for will land you in Hell with the likes of those monsters, that's a pretty Draconian policy. Total obedience and submission... the ultimate in control. I bought it when I was a kid. Then I grew up.

So if you don’t die on Sunday on the way home from church you’re still screwed 😅.

(Not that being less Draconian necessarily makes it deserving of our belief.)

(Not that being less Draconian necessarily makes it deserving of our belief.) I think differently. Once you give up the idea of critical thinking, and subscribe to something for which there is no empirical evidence, you are under the control of whoever is in charge of the religion you subscribe to. And this isn't limited to Christianity, it applies to all religions. I don't just reject Christianity, I reject all religions. I follow the science. And science is constantly learning more about the way the world works. I am fact-based, not faith-based. I was miserable as a believer, constantly worried that I would go to Hell for one tiny infraction. And I was a kid. That's a heavy load of crap to burden a kid with. Now, I'm no 'happier', given the state of the world - it's a mess - but I no longer think I might be going to Hell for eternity. I just try to make this world, the here and now, a little bit better to the extent I can. Lessen the suffering of sentient beings. A fairly simple idea.

Seems like a pretty blinkered state of affairs.
Good luck making things better, Sisyphus
