"Intuitively, most Americans appear to recognize that Trump’s arguments are absurd: In a recent POLITICO/Ipsos poll, 70 percent of respondents, including nearly half of Republican respondents, said that they do not believe that U.S. presidents should be immune from criminal prosecution for alleged crimes that occurred while in office."

Full Putin... you mean like trying to incarcerate his political opponent? Republicans need immunity to protect themselves from Putin-esque dictators like Biden.
That immunity is gone if the SCOTUS rules in Trump's favor.
Biden would be free to assassinate Trump.
No, he would not. Why do you keep lying about this? Congress can remove a president's immunity via impeachment in the house and conviction in the senate, and the assassins would be charged for murder for following an illegal order.

Are you sure? And why not? Trust me Shadow.Maybe because Trump's Supreme Court knows that if they grant him immunity from his crimes, they can't go after Democratic presidents.

Oh you mean the kid who'd taken up with terrorists, thereby making him an enemy combatant, and was killed during a strike on a terrorist site? Since when do you love terrorists so much? Is it Legal for the U.S. to Kill a 16-year-old U.S. Citizen with a Drone?
The kid never got due process - which was his Constitutional Right.
If the 16 year old citizen is in the middle of a valid military target as a hostile belligerent on foreign soil, sure. Why do you love terrorists?

I'm not 100% certain, but it appears (judging by the justices' questioning) it's more a question of no immunity vs limited immunity. If it's the latter, then more specifications from lower courts will be required to differentiate high/substantial crimes versus a more frivolous application. I'd suspect SCOTUS will eventually rule minor accusations do not rise to the level of overriding immunity.. but major ones would. Unfortunately, moving this back to the lower courts for clarification ensures this wouldn't be decided until after the election.

Well Trump's lawyers just argued that it's ok for a president to murder their opponents. I assume supreme court judges are included in that. No, Trump's lawyer did not argue that. damned close

Well, the Constitutional Justices seem to be favoring limited immunity. But to indulge the hyperbole... if the woman president committed abortion in a state that recognized it as murder, then she could also be tried for such. Granted such a charge would be challenged and difficult to prove but this was simply a response to those looking to usurp all presidential immunity.
