If they were peaceful protesting, they shouldn't be arrested.

If they were peaceful protesting, they shouldn't be arrested. These are schools. Well they used to be. You can’t go to a school and do whatever you want. If the people who run the school say: You can’t be here doing this - then you have to stop being where you are, doing what you are doing and if you won’t, you will be arrested.

Actually it's a university. Free speech and academic freedom are supposed to be the very bastion of universities

Most of them will get either a caution or a fine unless they’ve done something that warrants a prison sentence.

A university is a specific type of school. You clearly don’t understand our laws here in the US. This doesn’t surprise me. You don’t have a lot of protests in Sweden, ya? In Sweden women who are rape victims have to tell news reporters that they feel sympathy for their rapists because… Islam. ☪️ You can fill in the more specific words. 👍 No independent thought allowed in Sweden, ergo no risk of protests. You’re all talk, buddy.

If they were peaceful protesting, they shouldn't be arrested. No arrests here. Actual peaceful protest. lunda2222 And no. I don’t agree with these kids. I especially don’t agree with the organizer and his demands (2 minute mark). But I will defend their right to peacefully protest. They are not obstructing the paths to classes and they are harassing no one. Harassing students - calling them murderers, shouting ethnic slurs and death threats, and shoving and worse is not peaceful protest. Yet still, even when this happens as is ongoing at Columbia, those who run the school decide to call the police or not.

Not when the crime is assault, no. And you need permission to gather on private property. If it is part of your agreement with your university as a student (and it always is) that you remain in good standing with their rules and regulations or your status as a student is automatically and immediately suspended at will of the university, then if you break the rules and are still on campus you are trespassing. University is not a right here.

Harassment and assault is not peaceful protesting.

You sign something called an Enrollment Agreement or the like before you begin university. It is a contract. The ones getting arrested were not peacefully protesting by the terms I outlined above that you’re agreeing with.
