I'm not sure if this is an actual interview with a squatter. It looks like a comedy skit to me. I mean, if I were illegally squatting in someone else's house, I wouldn't look into a camera and admit to it. However, just because I wouldn't do it doesn't mean someone else wouldn't.
My land is set up in something called a living trust in which I have deeded the land to my oldest nephew, but I have the right to live on it until I croak. My concern is that someone could move onto the land and claim that I'm the squatter and have me legally removed. My nephew says it won't happen, and I'm sure he won't let it happen if he's here, but what if he isn't here? Who do you think the cops are going to believe, especially if the squatters are wearing business suits, and I look (as I typically do these days) like a bum? It could get complicated and take a long time to straighten out.
I'm not saying that squatters should have no rights under the law, but what's going on now is just ridiculous, IMO.

Wait a minute. Do you have no way to prove your identity? Nothing wrong with that if you don't though.

Squatters should have no rights. Oh, come on. What about the right to breathe air?

I can prove who I am, but I don't currently have paperwork to prove that I have a legal right to be here. Just my name on the electric bill and garbage pickup. There was a case recently where squatters had the legal owner thrown out. Nothing has happened to me yet, but as you may remember, I spend a lot of time pondering what may happen in the future.

Ok yeah I'm not an attorney but I see how if the trust/life tenancy isn't recorded or registered anywhere that could cause problems. Good news is that you're currently in possession of the land (physically living there, etc.) A problem may arise if you go on a long trip, go to prison, move elsewhere for an extended period of time, then interlopers move in and claim the land as their own.

Thanks, brah. I'm not anticipating any long trips, and I've been pretty good at staying out of prison. I doubt that will be an issue until the MotB becomes mandatory, in which case the temporal problems will be no more.
