Leaving out the g is also part of the London accent. We don’t talk proper. Not all Londoners surely? Certainly not on Aunty Beeb … apart from the down market radio stations and some fick continuity announcers. A Scot lecturing others on how to properly pronounce words? Is it irony day or something?

I know Wemyss Bay well .. my uncle lives in Rothesay. Arg, forgot it's a double 's'. Yes, nice place. We used to "go to Largs for a cone" - seemed to be a thing to do if you're in Wemyss Bay. I remember something about a really good Italian fish and chippie in Largs (didn't go so can't confirm). Nardinis, or similar? We go married about 40 minutes down the road in a nice country hotel in Troon.

Whole area, like much of the rest of Scotland, is looking a bit tatty these days. Rothesay too.
