Years ago I liked John Bull, a sort of non-creamy butter, a bit like Youngs or Courage Best. I drink according to the climate mostly. In the height of summer it'll be a lager top while other seasons have their own drinks. It sounds alright there, as long as it's not ear-splittingly loud. I can take foul language as long as it's not issued at the tops of people's voices. Not too loud, no. No piped music for people to have to talk over Don't think I've tried John Bull. Anyway, I'm about 40% through my pint of porter!

I've never tried IPA to my knowledge. A lot of them are too happy, not Deuchar's.. there are some good American ones but they can be a bit too citrusy if you choose unwisely.

£1.25 for a measure of Bell's whisky.
Admittedly the worst whisky you can buy!

Okay. It's not easy to find a pub here that still serves Tennent's. I remember the Extra was pretty strong. You didn't need many of them. Then you had the regular 'green-branded' Tennent's which tasted nicer than Extra. Just don't see it anymore. I'd be over the moon to get Bells for 1.25. I'm guessing you could get a double plus a mixer (if that's your bag) for about four quid. Can't beat that.

You're pacing well with the Porter. You must be nearing the 80% mark. Time you were at the bar, I'd say.

Do you suppose Zos is alright, by the by? It reminds me of when we heard no more of Wullie.

Mixers are free so a double bells plus a mixer is only £2.50. Single measure is only 25ml,not 35ml ... So that sucks a bit!

You used to be able to convert a single to a double for £1 here.
Even for expensive shorts like Tanqueray No. 10 .. which is £4.29 a single measure here .. and my favourite gin by a mile.
The new legislation, which introduced minimum pricing, put paid to that in Scotland.

Yeah, those very cheap hyperstrong ciders that alkies relied on basically quadrupled in price when the 50p per unit minimum price was introduced. The minimum is going up to 65p in July. Wetherspoon's will have to increase the price of a Bell's to £1.30 ! I think there would be no legal requirement to increase any of their beer prices but they may take the opportunity to fuck us over anyway.
