Gotta see this. I've read it's been screening on the Criterion Channel since last month, not sure if this is true. It's called 'Lush : A Far From Home Movie' (2024).
One of the greatest live bands I ever experienced.
'I've Been Here Before' - Lush

Just added to my watchlist. I'm woefully behind on a lot music docs. Don't have access to Criterion, but would really like to see this. At only 30 minutes not sure what sort of other release it's likely to get
Big fan of lush, was lucky to see them once in Sydney at their early 90s shoegaze peak, and glad I purchased the Chorus box set a few years ago
Probably my favorite track of theirs

Have you read Miki Berenyi's book? It's at the top of my non-fiction / fiction reading list.
Here's one of my longtime favourites I regard as pretty much being a perfect single in terms of precision dynamics and close arrangement, tight vocal lines and melodic hooks, controlled key change, rhythmic voodoo and the like, I guess the type of musical ingredients I typically savour when it comes to pop punkiness as I feel it has it all ...
Lush _ 'Hypocrite'

Not read Miki's book yet. I slightly prefer their shoegazey stuff but love their pop songs also. This one reminds me a little of The Stone Roses, especially during the verses

I love all the shoegazey but I do find I need to immerse myself fully within some of those elongated compositions as a night shift song cycle. For me, it's kind of like classical music in that regard (and wonderfully so). Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive all aces. Yet Lush had a gift for combiningg dynamic sound effects with punk direct melodies and confrontational (relatable) lyrics to create something special within their catchy hooks.
Lush - 'Last Night' (perhaps the greatest live performance)
