battery on a electric car? You can only recharge those things so many times then you have to do something with the battery and the hazardous material. You can't just landfill it. I don't think a lot of people on the Left/dems have seriously thought this through. I think this like the 70s push for plastics was a feel good exercise. Now plastics have become one hell of an environmental mess.

A lot of faux environmentalist people can't fathom the thing about plastic bags, I keep explaining that if we used paper we'd have to plant and grow trees to get a resupply, they laughably respond with "But they'd cut down trees!!"

Tree harvesting is fine, however old growth forest are being cleared. That destroys a complex system of biosphere and habitats. You probably think all environmentalists are fake.

Cars can run on them for about 15-20 years and still carry 50% of their original capacity. After that they can get repurposed for home or industrial energy storage for another 15-20 years.
There's going to be a lot of money to be made in recycling them when they start teaching their actual end of lives so someone is going to figure it all out by then.

So don't cut down old growth forests, limit it to replanted forests to get a new supply of bags. Usual ad hominem from you.

That’s called environmental regulation, something conservatives are against.

I'm more worried about those lithium batteries they use on the scooters here that keep blowing up. There are two parked in our foyer.

No they WON"T be recycled. I predict one hell of an environment mess 50 years from now. That is if they are stupid enough to try and follow through with this shit. We can't even keep the electrical grid functioning now. And they are gonna load it down with cars. How are they gonna produce the electricity? How are they gonna supply it? How are they gonna maintain the infrastructure? How are they gonna prevent brownouts/blackouts? California cannot produce enough electricity now to keep their state going.

How are they gonna maintain the infrastructure? How are they gonna prevent brownouts/blackouts? California cannot produce enough electricity now to keep their state going. By law electric utilities are allowed to bill their customers the construction cost plus a premium for new projects. They've got lots of incentive to build out their system to produce more. That's also why they don't maintain things very well. Because they don't get to bill the premium for routine repairs, but that's a whole other issue. But maybe don't read so much propaganda. In CA they occasionally shut down parts of the grid for wildfire concerns which aren't capacity related. Sometimes they send out a reminder saying don't charge your car between 4 PM and 9 PM during the hottest parts of the summer months, which hardly anybody does anyway because there's surge pricing during those hours.
