They say that they're "here to stay".
This really is cosplay.
1. The real Second Intifada was an absolute blood path with 150 suicide bombings.
2. The Palestinians lost the Second Intifada.
Israel forced them to give it up via roughly 450 roadblocks, a security fence that kept Jenin terrorists from walking over to the Arab towns in Israel, and chasing down terror leaders so thoroughly that they couldn't sleep in the same place two nights in a row (which kept them from having time to plan various attacks).
One Palestinian terrorist was arrested at his wedding. After all the guests had arrived, the IDF closed ranks around the mosque and used a bull horn to demand that they give up the groom.
After a few moments, the mosque spit the groom out through the front door.

Wasn't a ceasefire announced today? Seems like that ought to cool the campus protesting a bit.

No. Israel is pounding Rafah. I see. Must have just been a rumor then. No, Hamas lied.
They said that they had "accepted" a deal offered to them but what they had really done was to write up a new one on their own and "accept" their own proposal.
The U.S. knew that they'd made changes but didn't tell Israel, apparently.
In any case, the new Hamas proposal was never accepted by Israel.
Hamas added a bunch of things. For one thing, the first release of hostages could be dead bodies.
Hamas still demands an end to the war, which is not going to happen on their demand.
Hamas must be out of their rule in Gaza. They seem convinced that they will remain as the rulers.

When the Gazans got the Hamas lie that they had accepted a hostage deal, they set off fireworks.
No food anywhere, but they've got charged cell phones and fireworks.
