Why shouldn't they pay the same percent of their income in taxes that I do? Why should the tax codes allow them to pay less? Looking for that even break.
Why shouldn't EVERYONE pay the same rates? Why should 1/2 the country be Net Losses year after year, generation after generation?
His point, I believe, is that they don't even pay the same rate... Who do you think is spending sooo much money trying to get people elected? The rich. Where do you think those "freebies" are going?... The rich don't do it to make sure that stuff goes to the poor.

YES... ...and we, the spending class, would have more money in our pockets if we didn't have to pay the taxes that the production class avoids. The real irony is... We would be spending most of it on buying more of their products... Edit:.. or, as you admit... We would invest in them.
Trickle Up economics?
I don't think their products would sell more........ unless they're in the tobacco, alcohol or drug trades, of course. Maybe lottery, too?
1) Why does that sound mildly racist? 2) Trickle up makes more sense than trickle down (which has already proven not to work)... Trees grow from feeding the roots. 3) Your "alcohol and tabacco" aside... I'm pretty sure people would buy new cars and fridges.... and food.

I think merh is buying into the talking point of Warren Buffet claiming his rate is lower than his secretaries. But she knows I'm all for a simple tiered rate.......just so long as EVERYONE contributes IN, rather than so many taking OUT.
People of every income class donate to campaigns. Trump gets accused of stealing from the poor........but Obama never did?
I think the wealthy are smart enough to do the math/accounting. If it cost them $1 Million to save just $500,000 in taxes........ I believe they'd skip sending in that $Million.
The poor outnumber the wealthy many times over..........so just by the sheer amount of tax dollar consumption, they're getting far more than their share of tax dollars. Hence my term Net Losses for many of them. Do you think the majority of the wealthy skate by with a Net Loss on their ledgers?

2. The only thing proven not to work is handing over ever more money to the US Govt.
3. You don't know many po folk, do ya? OK, you might see the occasional Harley in their driveway........of their mobile home.

a staff of 134? What do you guess just that payroll amounts to every year? Not as much as the chunk Branson keeps?

1) The US government maybe... 2) What?.. You don't like having roads and an army? Also... Who would you rather hand over our money to?... Completely unregulated corporations and those that would exploit the system to the detriment of anyone/anything other than their profits? 3) Not even talking about handing EVEN MORE money to the government... Just getting the rich to pay their fair share of the budget that already exists... putting more money into the hands of the spending class. 4) And yes... The Government could definitely cut some of the fat off of the existing budget.

2. I have a say in whether any of my money goes to corporations.
3. Fair share? It's as bizarre and vague a concept now as 'living wage'.
4. We can never get along enough to agree on where those cuts should be. Which plays right into their hands and pockets.

I'd say average rent/utilities/food and expenses for an average family of 4 in any given area. Look... Its not too hard to figure that people can't afford to live/work 40+ hours a week and still be considered poor by any given standard... especially when they are working for a business/corporation that makes millions.. if not billions... a year. And when I wind up paying more in income tax than some multi-m(b)illion dollar corporations... Then, yes... The system is fucked up.

So it's vague from the get-go because it starts out dependent on location?
The poverty line is surpassed by 2 parents working minimum wage jobs, 40/hrs week.
Where did this notion that a business is there to not earn profits? But to simply be a means of distributing wealth to the workers? Meanwhile those workers never bother to buy out ownership?
WHY would a corporation owe income taxes? And even if you did charge them, the end consumer ends up paying those taxes in reality.

Not really dependant on location... just know that some areas are more expensive in live in... So yeah... It figures in for that location... It's not really vague... just common sense based on known/given parameters. Minimum wage is going to $13.00 an hour this year... at 40 hours a week: That's 520 dollars a week... Take out taxes (1/5 of income) and the take home is $416 aw week... times 4 weeks: $1,664... take out rent/mortgage, utilities, and healthcare... that don't leave much. BUSINESSES SHOULD EARN PROFITS... no one is saying that they shouldn't. But.. those profits need to be taken into consideration when we are pooling our money into the sum that pays for the system that they profit using.

1. Poor people just shouldn't live in expensive areas. How is that a tough concept? They don't live in Beverly Hills. They don't live in Martha's Vineyard.
2. Raise the Minimum to $20/hr.......and you'll see people still fall short compared to the cost of living.
3. I get a real chuckle out of these 'evil' profits discussions. Saw a shorts video of some wealthy dude explaining to people how their precious cell phones (that they pay over $Thousand for) actually costs about $10 to make.
