Been a while but I think it did a good job of taking the story and turning it into an enjoyable Hollywood epic/blockbuster. Also has moments of greatness like the Hector/Achilles fight and the scene where Peter O'Toole begs Achilles to give his son's body back. Eric Bana also kind of steals the show in general. Had a director's cut in 2007 that ups the violence and sex and is considered the definitive version of the film. ![](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BMTk5MzU1MDMwMF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNjczODMzMw@@._V1_FMjpg_UX1000_.jpg)

Pretty good sword-and-sandal flick. It definitely feels like an old-fashioned Hollywood epic. So it’s appropriate that Peter O’Toole is in this.

It's a fun spectacle. Almost a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. A shame that Sean Bean didn't get the chance to reprise the role of Odysseus in a sequel.
I recall that Peter O'Toole actually hated the movie. He stormed out of a screening calling director Wolfgang Petersen an idiot.
