Canada advances to the quarterfinals. The news said that it is the first time that Canada advances to the knockout rounds of a major tournament, but that can’t be right - I am pretty sure Canada won the CONCACAF Gold Cup once. Unless they are not counting the Gold Cup as a major tournament, which I think would be wrong.

Venezuela surprisingly tops their group with the full nine points and will be Canada’s quarterfinals opponent. Ecuador takes second place ahead of Mexico and will face Argentina.
On paper at least Canada has a decent chance of reaching the semifinals, which would be a great achievement.

However, Uruguay has been the strongest team of the competition after Argentina!

Unfortunately the United States just lost woth Uruguay and got eliminated from COPA AMERICA 2024 !!!
USA stupid and ludicrous loss against Panamá in the previous game ruined everything!
However, the USA team still has great potential and will certainly improve a lot for the 2026 WORLD CUP!
So Canada has passed to the next phase yet the USA got eliminated...
