So now you all know that all you have to do is go against my picks to win a fortune at the track.
So, I will do it again, so you can all bet against me and be so filthy rich that Bill Gates will ask you for a loan.
Belmont: at Saratoga Saturday 6-8-2024. Race 12 this year at 1 1/4 miles. Grade 1 for 3 year olds.
PROGRAM NUMBER-NAME OF RUNNER-PROBABLE ODDS-TRAINER-COMMENTS
1. SEIZE THE GREY 8-1 Lukas. If any colt in the Preakness looked like a toss out on form, it was this one, but he won the race. On paper, he had no chance, and at 9-1 he was still a huge underlay. He should have been 50-1. Lukas was a superstar in the twentieth century, much like Baffert is today. He's been on a comeback trail. I would think that the Preakness was a fluke, but maybe Lukas really has gotten everything perfect.
2. RESILIENCE 12-1 Mott. My favorite trainer in this race. Mott is in almost every race today, and that used to turn me off, but it seems to work for most trainers in the past few years. He was 6th in the Derby, and he's definitely one of the better bred ones for the distance. I bet him in the Derby, so I have to keep with him.
3. MYSTIC DAN 9-5 McPeek. Won the Kentucky Derby with class, being the only one in the front half all the way through to finish in the top five. McPeek looked to really turn it around after running so many with awesome pedigrees and forms out of the money, and now he's a hero. Is this for real? The Belmont will tell.
4. THE WINE STEWARD 20-1 Maker. 2nd in the Peter Pan and Lexington, both Grade 3. Was once highly touted. Now, Maker is an "adjustment trainer", meaning he never runs the same way twice. He's always trying to figure things out, so the worse he looks, the better he is.
5. ANTIQUARIAN 10-1 Pletcher. Won the Grade 3 Peter Pan.
6. DORNOCH 30-1 Gargan. 10th in the Kentucky Derby. Danny Gargan had good tutors, but when he opted to run this one with some physical problems in the Derby, and that's a red flag for me.
7. PROTECTIVE 50-1 Pletcher-Maiden, and it's unusual for a trainer to make a reach with a colt who has never won a race. This makes all of Pletcher's runners look like "reaches", and I'm tossing them all out, so you can go with these as sure things now.
8. HONOR MARIE 10-1 Beckman-The "wise guy" horse in the Kentucky Derby, and "wise guy" horses rarely win, but he's not the wise guy here. 8th in the Kentucky Derby, out of 20 starters.
9. SIERRA LEONE 2-1 Brown-Technically the class here, won the grade 1 Bluegrass at Keeneland, and was a very close 2nd in the Kentucky Derby. Has always come from very far back.
10. MINDFRAME 15-1 Pletcher-Undefeated in 2 starts, but has yet to run in anything bigger than an optional claimer. Early speed is most likely, and figures to be the first one to fade in the final turn.

4. THE WINE STEWARD
3. MYSTIK DAN
8. HONOR MARIE
Since I'm picking these four, you know that none of them will hit the board, so this is your chance by simply boxing all the others in a trifecta.
