All the years of watching a lot of old classic movies, especially the B&W ones on TCM and such, and women carrying fur muffs was not just a fashion statement, but for whatever reason, this is the first time I actually saw that they had little pockets in them so a woman could put her cosmetics or whatever. Now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense, especially where the women are holding their arms in a muff and not holding a purse of any sort. Women can't generally go anywhere without things like their makeup and perfume, so now that I've seen it, I'm wondering how I missed it all these years of watching films. I guess they just focused on the beauty and fashion aspect of it, and not on the function. They look dreadfully awkward and uncomfortable to walk about with your arms inside. Or holding it on one arm. Huh, go figure. Learning something new every day.
