Oh shit.. that reminds me I was actually watching the first 15 minutes of it the other month and stopped for some reason β but then I forgot to continue. I do that with a lot of movies.  |

It also decided to alter what was explained in the originals about Damien's birth, rendering them redundant. This was a deceit and anymore in the series will continue on a different time/storyline, so it's not really a genuine prequel. |

I enjoyed it. I prefer Damien's mother being a jackal, though. But if they are rebooting the series, this was a good start. They left it wide open for a sequel, so I assime the series will continue.

Yes I saw it and liked it. Really? I thought it was incredibly stupid. I am a big critic of when the protagonists are rewritten into the antagonists and this film took it to the extreme. Jep GambardellaIn the original, the church are the good guys, the Satanists are the bad guys, and the somewhat secular politician is caught in the middle who comes to learn that the church is right and questions his secularism as the Satanists are an evil force he never thought he'd actually have to contend with. In this version, the secularists are the good guys influencing politics (I"m not even kidding) and the church are the bad guys as they introduce the anti-christ to make people afraid and worship God. It is a thinly veiled pro-reproductive women's rights film. The acting and the cinematography is also not near the original. And all the good camera shots are basically ripped off from the original! Also, it's revealed that a second child of the Devil is around and is a daughter, so we can expect the other spin-offs and sequels to be about her and she will inevitably outstage Damien. |

We're getting to a dangerous place. It's like a frog being in a pot and the water is slowly boiling. I don't expect everyone to be Christian in my society. However, Christianity is intertwined with our society and we are seeing it written out of all aspects in all areas. With it, comes an attack on our society as a whole. We are denying it had a vast cultural significance. Indeed, instead we are pretending that everything good that happened in this world was in spite of it, which is simply not the truth.
The fact we are not able to make original art that stands on it's own is a bad sign. It's eerily similar to Stalin's Russia where all art had to have "The Message" at the expense of creativity, and he ended up chasing away people like Stravinsky. He called this art "Socialist Realism" and it was terrible, which is why there aren't really any Soviet era Russian artists that didn't move away to compose that are still played today.
