I just don't see Oregon and Washington being separate from California or being united with the Dakotas. As I said, new borders would need to be drawn. If it were up to me, I would divide the US along I-70 and then I-15. Libs take the North of that line, MAGA takes South of that line. Give everyone a heads up that you have 2 years to choose which country you wish to live in. The Lib North of MAGA South. State borders would be redrawn based on the new Interstate line and every US Citizen would have 2 years to decide if they wanted to live in the Lib North or MAGA South. The Dakotas become Lib territory and if those in the Dakota's don't like it they are free to move to Oklahoma. You get the idea. I am just sipping whiskey and spit balling here. That gives the conservatives almost everything East of the Mississippi River that isn't in a frozen wasteland, and gives to liberals almost everything West of the Mississippi River that isn't infested with gators. It's almost like one side is Southeast and the other one is Northwest, which is unusual. Most people lump North with East and South with West. In fact, most roads tend to go into those directions.

One hopes we’ll mature past the infancy of the internet age. The info-meter going from “measured” to “shit-deluge” across a decade or so really did a number on this country.

It's not a perfect plan. Just a start.

Some people in Idaho and Montana might not like it, but it's not a lot of people. There could also be a population exchange, sort of like with the end of the Ottoman Empire, with a lot of movement of Greeks and Turks. Nah, this sucks ass. There’s a lot I love about the north, but I’ll just have to stay down here and take pot shots at post-apocalyptic hillbillies who try to raid my still.

That’s part of it, but those who have taken advantage of this cognitive existential crisis are the same folks who’ve pulled the con jobs for millennia. This is true, but the last era tech took a really seismic shift in the way we live was late 1800's/early 1900's. It resulted in what I like to call "The thirty year war with the long lunch break", LOL. Think about it: from 1900 to 1930, we went from walking everywhere and only speaking/knowing about what was next door? To cars, telephones, mass media and airplanes. My Grandfather, born 1901 in Greenwich Village? First job was keeping the stables on Perry St. Learned to ride a horse on Manhattans cobblestones. Died just after the moon landing. I believe 1900 to 1930 rivaled our tech advances of today for sheer impact. I've got a Goddamned library in my hand right now! "Dewey decimal what???" I remember when folks got upset when the Post Office started using the two letter state codes instead of their old ad hoc abbreviations, like FL instead of Fla., or MN rather than Minn. Inside, MAGA is QAnon, and inside QAnon is are the FlatEarthers, Moon Landing deniers, the "Illuminati are running the world" folks, and then there is Tartaria.

Well, these Tartarians sound like they'd be awesome at 'buzz killing', along with other, er, party tricks. I'm surprised no one mentioned NYC's old Penn Station, the most ornately impressive train terminal in the world while it lasted, only 50 years. (Grand Central Station was Penn's 'little sister', believe it or not). I'm pretty familiar with the Singer Building story, though I've no idea why. I firmly believe in the concepts of "Future Shock" and "Information Overload". I guess that describes what I'm saying, in my original post. People suck at change, as a rule, the concept is old news. However, when extreme changes come around quickly? We as a whole seem to suffer great growing pains. Juxtaposed to my Grandfathers life, who went from candlelight reading of books to movies, autos, radio, etc, in his first 30 years? My first 30 years (really 40) stayed relatively the same. Phone, TV, car, in person banking, etc. The big sea change in my life began to appear in the mid 80's with ATM's, later cell phones, going through to this internet, which has radically altered my life, largely for the better. but I have trouble keeping up with cultural changes, which appear so much faster in our present. Interesting stuff, thanks.

Interesting stuff, thanks. The Singer Building was torn down by my first visited NYC, but looking at the photos, that thing was hideous. It looked like giant penis. I never liked Beaux Arts. The style doesn't go well with building over five stories. Chicago style keeps some of the ornate, without the flourishes. I've been doing a Star Trek review with my podcasting buddies and I've spoke several times how some of those sci-fi gadgets Kirk and Spock used have come true. As a kid, I couldn't image that happening. People with enough rationality and parsimony can understand the necessities of the modern and not fear it, while living with it's excesses. And others cannot to the point of being confused, violent toddlers.

What strikes me about podcasting with several people and several shows whom I know to be Trumpers is, we can have pleasant, fun, and even complex conversation about the nature of life in comic book movies, but get to real life politics and they turn into different people. Particularly if Marvel puts out a something that's too Woke for their tastes, then it becomes Disney is the Deep State crap.

Not when Republicans lose. Al Gore and Hillary Clinton bitched wildly when they lost.
They are both Democrats.

Nowhere near as wildly as the clown you’re going to vote for. Only an idiot would claim otherwise.
