I found this unwatchable when I attempted it...back before cell phones. With the exception of Twin Peaks, I've never been much of a David Lynch fan.

I tend to like bizarre and off-beat things. It can be viewed as just a twisted and bizarre experience, or you can make analogies where the strange and creepy things actually have existential correlations. I hadn't seen it in ages, and only recently watched it again.

I found the film barely watchable (and just plain unpleasant) the first time I saw it but it grew on me with subsequent viewings. I love the surreal nightmarish world Lynch created for this film, it's unsightly and unpleasant at first glance but eventually the film's ugliness becomes less repulsive and even somewhat agreeable in its own weird way. It's definitely worth a second look.
