He hates Germany more than North Korea. Sorry, the good Americans are voting against that orange bastard but I’m afraid the koolaid has been drank by too many. His macho pretensions and good economy with low inflation during his tenure has deluded many of us. Say goodbye to NATO also. He’ll pull America out. On the plus side, you may not have anymore American troops in Germany. I’m sure that will make many Germans happy. 🙂 I expect NATO dividing into two seperate blocks. What fills me with sorrow is that there are some transatlantics (especially in the CDU) like Spahn and Merz indicating an appeasing approach to Trump. Oh, and by the way: If the American troops start leaving I'm all for demanding fees for the occupied land in the transition period (that will last at least two presidencies...) Oh, and we certainly keep the new Military Hospital in Weilerbach! God Bless You and take the nukes with You. What fees? Yeah we’ll take the nukes, but what you don’t understand is that within a decade American troops will be back under a new President to push back the Russians after they invade Poland and perhaps get as far as Germany. The EU is too weak to stop them.

It seems like home PCs are okay. Crowdstrike is a special environment for Business PCs.
By the way - they are trying to exchange Chinese 5G technology with other chips in Germany now - Out of fear of Cyber attacks and spying. But what If Donnie asks Microsoft next time: "That's an impressing weapon You have there (Admin Cockpit of MS Office 365 was affected, too) Can You make that happen to computers in Germany only?" I don't think that's only in Germany but maybe all of the EU? Here in Sweden, they have banned equipment from Huawei as of 1 January 2025. As a result, carriers like Tre/Three have to replace their 4G equipment and that is why they have stalled their 5G rollout.

I think it was Thierry Breton in 2023 urging or strongly recommending the EU countries to do that (also regarding ZTE chips) . The IT experts I know are divided on this.

Except that it was Crowdstrike and not Microsoft. This wouldn't be happening if you were still using Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 As bad as Windows 8.1 is with a tile page replacing the start menu, it is still more secure than Windows 10.

No it isn't, Windows NT 3.0 and Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 all suffer from the Hal (hardware abstraction layer) vulnerability, especially in regards to the video card device drivers. By simply deleting "VGA.sys" and "PCI.sys" then forcing a reboot you can take out the entire system.

Windows 7 is still functioning well enough to be able to post online.
But here after awhile I will have to wipe the hard drive and do a clean reinstall of something else. Because the contents of the Windows SXS folder are corrupted and the runtime stack is corrupted.
There are probably ways to fix that without having to reinstall the operating system. However, I don't want to spend that much time resolving the problem, it is easier to just reinstall everything.

Currently, 70% of all Windows machines are still running Windows 10 and Microsoft plans to kill support for Windows 10 in October next year. You will still have the option of getting updates afterwards, but you will have to pay (or pirate). There is Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC and I run it myself, but that's only for power users and realistically the average Joe will not install it.

Heh.
For a long time I was leary of a decentralized microservice based architecture.
Then I started working with it, and realized that it was actually pretty cool.
Then this happened.
Now I'm back to square 1.
I mean...SO MANY PROBLEMS. Back in the day patch...reboot...done.

If you bought a Dell or Gateway computer that won't be as much of an issue as some custom made gamer rig. However, Linux doesn't use device drivers except maybe for the video card so Linux is just perfect for old computers. If you use Mac OS that is really just a proprietary paid for version of Linux that is really out of date. A free distribution of Linux is actually more secure than Microsoft Windows or even Mac OS.

Mac OS is not Linux, it's actually a version of Unix. As for out of date-ness, it's difficult to say that with any OS, since there's so many components to all of them (Windows and Linux included), many of which were originally authored decades ago.
