Steffi was the real deal. I have her the best ever, with Margaret Smith and Martina Navratilova.

The greatest ever in individual sport, I'd say.

The greatest ever in individual sport, I'd say. Shane Gould She won 3 gold medals and several silver and bronze medals at the 1972 Munich Olympics in swimming events. Before that she held world records at the same time in the 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m freestyle and 400m medley. After the Munich Olympics she retired at 17. At 60 she won Australian Survivor.

I shall rephrase my above response to the greatest ever in an individual sport that I know and/or care about. Which clearly rules out swimming on both counts!

Personally I regard the achievements by Birgit Fischer as the highest in sports ever Just have a look: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birgit_FischerBut as I am living in a German town very near to Steffi Graf's birthplace I can tell You what's really astonishing about her: She managed to be a normal woman - despite of her success in sports. There was a moment in life when she had enormous difficulties. It was when she had to learn to distance herself from her father, who had been both her first tennis trainer and manager bc of his dubious financial transactions and tax frauds. What else about Steffi Graf? She deserves high praise for having the most beautiful legs ever! Andre Agassi knows that, he even left Brooke Shields for Graf!

She’s brilliant.

She’s brilliant. Nothing against Jessica Fox. We just have to wait whether she will be able to keep this performance over a longer time. Birgit Fischer btw has been just surpassed in medals by Isabell Werth en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isabell_Werth"With this she beat Aladar Gerevich, Hungarian fencer and Mark Todd of New Zealand, record for the most years between first and last Olympic medals (32 years). She holds the record for the most Olympic medals won by any equestrian athlete and by any German athlete, and is the first athlete to win a medal at seven different Olympic Games editions (Summer or Winter)."

Yes, I saw Werth's name high up on this table. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_multiple_Olympic_gold_medalistsHelluva woman! P.S. She has won more silver medals than anyone in Olympic history. (six) Did she not compete at London 2012?

I don't know why she didn't compete at London but I strongly guess it has something to do with the controversies at that time, see that chapter about forbidden substances in the blood of her horse Whisper.

Oh, naughty. I take it all back! Well, that's long ago and for her age Isabell is a fine woman! As IS Steffi Graf, to get back to the original topic... (Notice: Graf only with one 'f')
