After a wild Super Cup, in which Sporting led Porto 3-0 and lost 3-4, the Portugese League is underway.
Big result was perennial 5 seed Familicao knocking off Benfica 2-0 at home. Sporting and Porto both had comfortable wins at home. Perennial 4 seeds Braga, playing in their awesome mountain top stadium, split the points with Estrela.
Santa Clara are top of the league after thrashing Estoril 4-1 away.
GOLO!

The Big 3 all win. Sporting had lots of fun in Madeira winning 6-1. Benfica really struggled for 70 minutes at home to Casa Pia before hitting their straps late to win 3-0. Porto knocked Santa Clara off top with a 2-0 away win. Braga were lucky to win in Porto against Boavista, the home team sending what should have been a sitter hard into the goalpost in stoppage time.
Sporting will be top with 2 from 2 along with Porto, Moreirense, and Vittoria. Familicao could join them, leading 1-0 away to Estrela. Braga the only other undefeated team with 1 win and a draw.
Edit: Familicao ran away towards the end to win 0-3 and move to 2nd edging ahead of Porto on differential.

Are you of Portuguese extraction, hosko?
Can’t think of another reason you would follow that Mickey Mouse league! 😉

Are you of Portuguese extraction, hosko? Can’t think of another reason you would follow that Mickey Mouse league! 😉 Nope. It's just a fun league. The top 4 teams are always legitimately good. Even the lowly teams are always attacking and I'm only watching highlights. At worst it takes up about 25 minutes of my week and doesn't sadden me as much as the SPFL (though I can't turn away from that league either. It's a curse! A fucking curse!!!).

My favourite team is most certainly Sporting Lisbon and then I prefer Porto as no.2. I despise Benfica.
Sporting is scoring lots of goals!

The Big 3 all win, Benfica rather unconvincingly. Braga and Familicao also get wins at home. Sporting far and away the most impressive so far with Porto quietly racking up 3 from 3 too. Familicao also 3 from 3. Braga in 4th undefeated with 7 points.

Another thoroughly unimpressive performance from Benfica, drawing away to Morereinse, Sporting won the first Heavyweight battle for the year, easily accounting 2-0 for Porto at home, while Familicao had their first loss of the year. Braga had an uninspiring draw at home but remained the only other undefeated team apart from Sporting.
So Sporting CP too with 4 from 4, followed by Porto, Familicao, Victoria and Santa Clara with 3 from 4 and Braga in 6th with 2 wins and 2 draws. Benfica a point further back with Morereinse and Rio Ave the only other team at or above. 500.

Only one undefeated team now, Sporting, since I last updated. The champs are 6 from 6, a game clear of Porto with Benfica languishing in 7th behind Braga. Santa Clara, Vitoria and Familicao are sitting 3rd-5th. Everyone else has less than half the points on offer with Boavista right in the drop zone.
