This screenwriting team was initially stumped by the problem of coming up with a decent denouement for a climactic scene in a film adaptation they were working on (the scene had a different outcome from the original story). According to one of the writers, they were stopped at a traffic light when they suddenly turned to each other and, in unison, burst out the iconic line that was used in the film (well, of course they did). Who were the screenwriters, and what was the film?

CasablancaHoward Koch and b-day boy Julius Epstein (whom I heard with my own ears, say in my very presence, "Ugarte doesn't say the letters of transit were signed by General DeGaulle, he says 'General Weygand'").

Correct! Julius J. And Philip G. Epstein had the synchronous rapport of identical twins that had them speaking for each other, finishing each other's sentences, etc. In the original play, Rick gets arrested, but that outcome was changed for the film as it was too much of a downer, and Renault really wanted a wingman.
IMDb refers to them as the "first" twins to win an Oscar. Were there others?
Happy Birthday to Philip and Julius Epstein!

I'd actually forgotten they were twins. Oh, what a dummy am I.
Happy b-day to Phil.

I'd actually forgotten they were twins. Oh, what a dummy am I. Happy b-day to Phil. IMDB seems to have forgotten, too, as in some of the trivia, they repeatedly refer to the brothers as "Julius J. Epstein and his brother, Julius J. Epstein," leaving out Philip's name entirely.
