Background noise with some in the media making the frankly insane call for the Sharks to drop Nicho Hynes. Big game for Craig Fitzgibbon. While there's much to be said for consistently getting your team to finals but the grace that gets you with fans runs out quickly if you don't win in finals. He feels a loss away from being Ken Hinkley or Marvin Lewis.
Cowboys have had a nice run under the radar and gone from a fringe top 8 team to 5th. There are no expectations from here and this is basically a free swing for them on a team who looked very ordinary last week.
While I'm wary of the "semi final trap" for tipsters, in which one team's coming off a win and the other coming offca loss to a good team in which they looked ordinary, I simply have no faith in Nicho and the Sharks.

I think the Cows in GP, but a really high scoring game.
Both teams have defensive liabilities that can be easily exploited by their opponents.
I think it will be score for score, try for try - and then whoever holds their nerve best.
And in that situation…Val Holmes will ice what Nicho Hynes might not.

Sharks started scratchy in the first 10 minutes. Brayden Trindall then got a deep kick and the Sharks kept the ball down there for about 2 or 3 sets before the Cowboys coughed up a penalty try and the Sharks then rolled out to a 24-0 lead courtesy of some nice goal kicking from Hynes and some very poor defence from the Cowboys.
Sharks may well have kept rolling had they not had two tries (correctly) disallowed early in the 2nd half and ultimately had a penalty from a poorly executed drop kick to thank for killing off the Cowboys come back, winning 26-18. 50 missed tackles by the men from Townsville certainly didnt help. I personally never felt the Sharks were in any real trouble, but it wasn't a great performance overall. Trindall and Kennedy the stars.
Some good tries and a bit of faux tension but not a great game. Didn't see anything there that will put the fear of God into Penrith.

Shit game. Poor from both sides. Cronulla will need to dramatically improve to get anywhere near Penrith.
