Just noticed Melbourne were 6/5 on faves. Penrith 12/11. I thought Melbourne would win. It just looked to me like they had a bit more in the tank. Penrith looked a little banged up. I didn't think the Panthers would be able to suffocated them like they had the Roosters and Sharks. Well, the Storm look knackered very early, all of the injured Panthers played strongly for the full 80 minutes, and the Storm were suffocated. I think the key mistake I made was that Penrith are a younger team than Melbourne. Penrith have been up so long it's easy to forget that the Storm veterans have been around longer, and the Panthers made them look their age by running relentlessly.

Another close and exciting NRL GF. One for the defensive purists. Nathan Cleary and Liam Martin deserve the accolades they got, and Paul Alamoti had an absolute barnstormer. But, honestly, people like talking about immortality and half of fame especially around the halfback, but Isaah Yeo simply has to be put into the conversation too. Over the last 5 seasons I can’t remember him playing a bad game, and tonight, yet again, put in an 80 minute shift of pure quality on both sides of the ball. Penrith showed they can win without Cleary this year, with Luai filling in and stepping up with aplomb. But Penrith aren’t Penrith without Yeo. They just aren’t. What a player the 13 in the black/pink jersey is…. 2 10-15m runs in the last 10 minutes with 3 or 4 guys hanging off him. His tank is limitless.

How did they manage to lose twice to Wigan?! Nathan Cleary's partner is over there playing for Man U so I'd suggest he has his mind on other things during the English winter.

How did they manage to lose twice to Wigan?! To be fair, the WCC has always been a far more important game to the Poms than the Australian sides, and Penrith in particular haven’t really looked at it as anymore than a competitive trial in both the games they have participated in, and despite being as rusty as old gate in both, Lost to St Helens in Golden Point, and if the video ref rules used in Australia was used in the game earlier this year, they beat Wigan too.

Just wanted to drop here that only one team has a better winning percentage over Penrith in their 4-peat era then Bob's Tigers (2-3 40%): the Cowboys 3-4 42%). So there you go, another Cowboys/ Tigers Granny coming up soon.

Panthers have already said they won't be playing in the World Club Championship year.
