My 50 year old sister is an evangelical and says she won't vote for either Kamala or Trump because she hates both.

My 50 year old sister is an evangelical and says she won't vote for either Kamala or Trump because she hates both. Anecdotal I know but my 80 Year old Evangelical Aunt is sitting this one out because of... Vance. She doesn't have a problem with Trump morally. She thinks that he will die in office and leave Vance in charge. She see's Vance as like the Husbands women used to have to hide money in Coffee cans to escape back in the day. Back before 74 when banks could legally dichromate against women. She says as a life long Republican she can't vote for Harris so she's just sitting it out.

If she is evangelical she should be fine with his abortion position. The rest of that... is Vance trying to ban women's credit cards? Shit, I might try to get him made King JD if he is.

No even though she's Southern Evangelical Republican she was also a career woman and very independent. She feels Vance wants to push women back to only being Mothers trapped in Marriages. Her words not mine.

It will be interesting to see how many stay home. Although it seems these stories are the exception, it would have some level of impact. It will be interesting to see where the numbers for both end up being.

And the distrust that Old Ladies who have seen Politicians on both sides have different sets of rules? One set for themselves and their own... and one set for the public. I mean she's probably already in bed or getting ready, but if I remember the next time I talk to her. I'll ask for clarification.

Is that typical or atypical for presidential elections? It’s typical they don’t vote unless there is rise in quasi-religious populism. The surge of the current Evangelical voting coincided with the rise in the “Moral Majority” political ethos that morphed and changed as Reagan, the Bush II courted them. While very conservative and dishonest, these administration were out to utterly destroy the Constitution. After the shock of 9/11 and Obama, hardcore Right Wing Capitalistic Fundamentalism, still resentful from losing the segregation battle, creeped in, either silencing or co-opting the original Moral Majority types.

My 50 year old sister is an evangelical and says she won't vote for either Kamala or Trump because she hates both. Not very Christian to hate. Maybe she should reevaluate her values.
