I am of the opinion that major footballing nations should not hire foreign managers for their national teams.

I don’t really mind.

Highly decorated - I was impressed by his work with Chelsea (they were fools to sack him).
However, his stint in Munich gives me pause. He seemed to clash a lot with higher management and the media - and there are few higher-pressure gigs than the England national team.

Cue chorus of "Ten German Bombers" in 10.9.8...
I myself am of the opinion that Scotland should never hire a Scottish manager. Diversity rawks!

Gareth Southgate looked more like a French waiter than an English anything. The point is to win trophies you're getting sports and results mixed up with politics. There's another forum for that type of thing.

There's another forum for that type of thing. It's international sports. The whole point of international sports is that you put together a team of the best players your country has to offer, to play against the best that other countries have to offer. I am aware that the eligibility rules don't apply to managers, but in my personal opinion countries (especially the ones with a successful history and a deep talent pool, like Germany, Italy, England, France, Spain, Brazil and Argentina) should try to follow the same general principle also for managers, within reason. Nothing to do with politics.
