Sheesh. I was a groomsman at a friends wedding, he and his wife are black. I've been a guest in their home hundreds of times over the years and I've eaten all these items, ribs, cornbread, greens, m&c, and KOOL_AID!!! Also fried chicken and WATERMELON!!! I've had all these dishes many times at their home and in my own. I have a large can of greens in the kitchen and when I decide to get into it it'll be with cornbread, m&c, fried chicken and iced tea. A stereotype? Perhaps, but uncommon? No.

Where are all these activists on St Patrick's Day I always ask. Every where you look on that day people eat and serve traditional Irish food both privately and publicly. Politicians have photo ops holding a pint of Guinness. Nobody says a word. Mustn't be too many agenda driven Irish activists out there.

"On a daily basis, Ms. Harris said, she and other black students are “doing the same work and we’re getting the same grades as you, and we’re doing this extra work, teaching people how to be sensitive to us.”
This country is dead.

I think this just another case of someone who's seeking attention and needs an ego boost. It's just blowing this out of proportion is all, IMO. And I wonder what this young lady thinks would be an appropriate menu in place of the ribs and other things? Maybe next year they'll serve tacos for a black history month meal, so as not to offend her.

Well that's backfiring in a big way for her. This is the type of thing that will receive nothing but a chuckle and be dismissed.

No. Here's the thing I don't get. For all the machoism blacks like to pose for, whether it's in that gansta attitude on the street or in those on-field celebrations after making a tackle (yes. just a tackle), you'd think these people would be tougher than they are, and not be the pansy, blame others, shirk responsibility for their culture kind of people that is SO often on display. In my mind, these types are nothing more than perpetual middle-schoolers, with a maturity level and an educational level to match. This isn't racist. Black people who aspire to a higher level are capable of achieving anything. It's their culture that is setting them back. Why would they be ashamed at something so innocent in their culture as what they like to eat? My god!!! Grow up!

Potatoes and alcohol can certainly be considered negative stereotypes of the Irish, yet they embrace these things fondly. I'm 3/4 German and lived in Germany for three years when I was a kid. I have fond memories of drunken Germans drinking beer from huge steins and eating sausages during Oktoberfest. More stereotypes, and I'm just fine with it. And I love sausage and sauerkraut.

So, don't get me wrong with what I am going to say next, because I think these kinds of 'offenses' are completely absurd, but... Who in the hell are these F-ING IDIOTS who haven't figured out that it simply is not feasible to specify which foods are black history foods?? This is a sure-fire career ender. Don't EVER go there. I don't understand why, I can't comprehend the offensive nature of it, but the track record is abundantly clear that you should never get within 100 miles of a "Black History Menu". You might as well put on black face or tell a n***er joke. Unless you personally are a black food historian who has run a soul food restaurant for 30+ years, you are guaranteed to bring some ninny down on your head over this and there is no defense, no place to hide.

Kind of hard to take any of this stuff seriously. Teaching us to be sensitive to them? Spare me. Perhaps they should focus on their communities problems rather than some menu that was even (supposedly) chosen by black cafeteria staff and trying to twist it into a matter of race and white "insensitivity".

If she had even a particle of awareness of other human beings, she would realize that a white colleague could easily complain about he and the other white students "getting the same grades for doing the same work as you (if not better), and all the while devoting tons of wasted energy worrying about who we have offended, are offending, or are going to offend next with some utterly harmless action or benign remark. It's exhausting."

It may be a stereotype but so what. Oktoberfest and St Pats days are fun and most people are smart enough to know it isn't racist or a negative stereotype. Food and drink are a part of the rich culture and history of all ethnic groups and races and should be embraced.

Every time someone associates pasta, mozerella and tomato sauce with Italian food, I'm ethnically humiliated. And hungry.

Every time someone associates pasta, mozerella and tomato sauce with Italian food, I'm ethnically humiliated. And hungry. Italians are hugely proud of their cuisine and love to be associated to their cuisine. Italians love to share their food and culture and would want that food on a menu when celebrating Italian-American history and culture. That's how I know Nia is just a race baiting activist trying everyday of her life to be seen as a victim of white oppression and unfortunately everyone stopped and listened to her idiocy and action was taken resulting in people losing their jobs over nothing. Such is the world we are living at the present. This is an example of why Trump was elected and hopefully will receive a second term.
