Yes, I'm a big fan also.
What was ironic about her is that she never gained much commercial success throughout her career, then Tracy Chapman (who was compared to Joan) comes along out of nowhere and wins a Grammy and commercial success with her first hit.

I listened to Love and Affection first & the singer from the Alabama Shakes reminded me of her.
Did you know a black woman sings Goodbye Horses? I thought it was a man until last year.

I've heard the new album and it's not one of her best on first listening, production sounds a bit 80's to my ears, will give it another listen though.
