You'll be fine. You don't need my advice. I dedicate the better part of an hour to thoughtfully creating and posting mine in reply to your last request for it and you can't be arsed to click the Like button, put aside reply? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. And I'm not into situations which beget self-shame, so: pass.

For some reason I don't get notifications for the pleasant conversation subforum. I will immediately look for it, read it, like it, and spend an appropriate amount of time thoughtfully giving you a reply.

Don't know, but apparently it's "Holy crap dude it's expensive!" Why don't you strike up a conversation with him about parking fees in various parts of the city?

Because I do not give fuck about them. My city doesn't have that kind of British bullshit anyway. I'm just nodding and trying to act interested.

Parking fees are British bullshit? Well excuse me. (Think you'll find it's quite an international concept.) Sounds to me like you haven't got the balls to just say that you need to concentrate on something so can we have a bit of quiet for a while. There, that's your bullshit.

Did he survive the negative feedback to remain employed there? If so, are you nicer to him now? Was it flattering to think he may only have been overly chatty because you made him nervous?
And what about Naomi??<-closing credits joke from old TV show

And what about Naomi??<-closing credits joke from old TV show I snapped at him today, he was busy rambling about some SpongeBob episode and added a bunch of files to the wrong account even though I kept saying "Okay that's good". He claims he thought I meant "You're doing good keep going" but he was just busy blabbering. I did take him to lunch, and I told the big boss that my trainee will be an asset in a few months. I thought about what you said and kept it in mind.

I thought about what you said and kept it in mind. Wait, what did you mean by "Okay that's good" if it didn't mean "You're doing good keep going"? It's okay to give him instruction and constructive criticism. That's definitely not the same thing as being mean. Clear communication is the key. Keep it simple. Don't be afraid to use "no" because it will catch his attention more efficiently than any other word or phrase. Like "No, that doesn't go there. Put that here. Great. Perfect. Next one." That's so great! I bet he will be and if not, you can definitely say you tried. 🤗 Obviously I root for you foremost, and if this kid can't get it together with you giving him a proper chance, that'll be on him. But I gotta tell you, nice, respectful enough to be intimidated by you, not funky smelling, you've got incentives for him to learn the job and work out there, because there are some awful people out there who can end up working with you that make every day suck. From all angles, I'm thinking from your perspective. Awww, you're the sweetest

Right now he has been in the restroom for nearly a half hour.

You can only train him as best you can. The interest I have in seeing you not be mean to him is that (in addition to being unhelpful) it makes you feel bad. Unlimited internal eyerolling might help get you through; inner or outright laughing may also help. By the way, congrats on having a trainee! I told you you'd be supervisory in no time.

He is a nice kid, when I took him to lunch I met his gf and their 3 year old daughter, I honestly want to help him get the job at his 90 days. He makes me look like Cool Hand Luke though.
