Dunno Ash. We all live in the UK, but Monkey and I have noticed no change in the cost of living while you are crying poverty.
The problem isn't Brexit. It is that when circumstances some of us adapt, do what we can with what we have and as often as not end up better off as a result.
And then there is you. Everything is the fault of Brexit, the Tories and someone else.
Sad stuff Ash
This is true. "I don't like XYZ so when anything bad happens, I will blame XYZ". I think he's been spending too much time on the other board where they do that kind of thing all of the time and is slowly turning American.

We're being warned about higher electric prices here in Florida and some people are claiming they're getting $500 monthly household bills, but I find that tough to believe. Mine was $230 last June, and was $270 this June so it's gone up but nothing crazy. Everybody's electric bill is around 500 up here, unless you have a studio or really tiny 1 BR. That's what I need. Time for an Elon Musk Boxabl Tiny Home. Then, life on Mars. Wait, I'll skip the Mars part. I rather enjoy earth (and Amurrica). I want cheaper electricity, not Elon's pod living and Bill Gate's bug eating.

Are you in all seriousness saying that something that happened a year and half ago lay dormant doing nothing and then all of a sudden in the last month sprung price rises on the whole world? Be serious, try to identify the real cause rather than the tired old stalking horses the Guardian sends you after. So you are saying it has added "Nothing" to the cost of living despite taking billions per year out the economy? That is your stance? Seriously? Strange as I remember you saying it did but was okay as it was worth it. Which one is right? Are you seriously saying that a slow increase in a few items, and not the very sharp recent increase in many items, is what this thread is about? Seriously? "Cost of living crisis" is not to do with Brexit and it's clear to anyone not inebriated on fresh Guardian print that that is what this thread is about.

What I am seriously saying is that billions taken out of the economy that could have been used to cut fuel duty for example to tackle runaway inflation, will obviously have an effect on dealing with the cost of living. Only a partisan Brexit hack (and I am pro Brexit) would or could argue differently. To say as you do it has no effect is just stupid wilful ignorance. You can argue the extent it affects cost of living, certainly but only a fool could argue that it has NO effect.

Which will be in September.

But not having billions to solve it with has nothing to do with why prices are rising in the first place. You can blame them for not dealing with it very well, but they are not to blame for the problem occurring in the first place. And if you still wish to bang the Brexit drum, you should blame the people of this country. Brexit came about because of them, not the government. And don't gimme some crap about 'we should have stayed in the single market' - that would not have been Brexit and was not what was being voted for - it was out, totally.

"that would not have been Brexit and was not what was being voted for - it was out, totally." The public certainly didn't see it as that. The only downside of a deal to remain in the customs union would have been to accept freedom of movement, and if it wasn't about "racism" as you have always insisted then what is wrong with that? We have already seen that we needed most of those people to help the farming and hospitality sectors going and we also know have a massive HGV skills shortage.. I haven't said the government is to blame for inflation, but we would be in a much better position to afford compensatory measures had the Government not pissed billions away on a bad Brexit deal and through incompetence and cronyism. And that old chum is what will cost them at the next election. (not lead by Boris as you and Mowhux insisted it would be, you can pay the bet loss to an animal charity of your choice, all this being right is so embarrassing)

I reckon that if it rained beer you would be the one with a hole in your bucket Hey, I can't lose, I'm a big saver, the Government incompetence is pushing interest rates higher, tax and petrol cuts on the way with Truss and the future is a change in Government now. Can feel empathy for others far less fortunate though, it's what makes the non psychopaths and narcissists, "human".

Yes they did - there was no debate about different degrees of outness. I think you are viewing history through current eyes. It's about having control of the flow. It's unhealthy to have vast numbers of people moving to places of wealth and leaving behind places of desolation. That does neither place any good. You need a managed approach to it. (And the better approach is to invest in the less wealthy place so people don't feel the need to move.) Yes, but the post I was responding to was blaming the govt for the rises and you're on the back of that, so that's what the question was about. "Insisted". That's a laugh. I was flip-flopping on it on a monthly basis as each new item of idiocy emerged. You must admit, the resignation came as a surprise given his previous "you'll need a flamethrower to get me out of here" comments and approach.

I don't think you're gonna get cheaper electricity than what you have. Perhaps enjoy that it's half what people pay in NY (possibly for more usage 'cause I'm betting you have more space). And when they're making the sign-up sheets for bug eating, I'll make sure they have you down as a No. 😘

No. What I'm gonna give up fresh-made eggplant parm, bagel and lox sandwiches, huevos rancheros, deep-fried Atlantic cod with hand-cut french fries and extra tartar sauce, open-faced tuna melt with tomato and cheddar et al for bugs? Fuhgettaboutit. And I only watch tiny home videos and dream, then I finish the dusting and clean the kitchen.

It is not so much that the cost of supplies is getting out of hand as much as it is a matter of being unable to obtain everything that I wanted. Mostly because the supply infrastructure is critically broken throughout the southwest.
It is a temporary problem that should be cleared up by about this time next year. Sorry to say though that the outlook won't be as bright for those on the east coast.
