Kohli wanders off and with him any vague hopes of an Indian miracle. 265 behind and now just a matter of how close they can get. Decent snare by Smith must be said. Once Rahane goes, it’ll be over really quickly.

Well, it was over really quickly.
Deserved win by Australia. India really needs to look at their batting. So many starts, few really big scores. Tons by Head and Smith were the difference in the end.

After the first day, I never doubted Australia would win this match. Wasn't able to watch too much of the match, but I had it on in the background throughout the game. Another terrific win for the Aussies.

Cameron Green is the golden boy Who defeats India And brings Australia joy He is the best on Earth Because he comes from Perth Which has the best conditions Starting from birth
South Africa is jealous India too But they don’t tell us They’re too shy to
Australia is better than England Pakistan, Zimbabwe and New Zealand England sucks They score ducks When they face Cameron Green

Lol. India were fined 100% of their match fee and Australia 80% for slow over rates. Gill was fined an additional 15% for carrying on like a fuckwit for the next two days after being given out on day 4.

Regarding the fallout from the Green “cheating” scandal, one very interesting piece of information that has almost gone unnoticed is the interpretation of ‘grounded’ according to Law 32 Out Caught. If the ball if is caught and fully in control by the fielder before the hand or fingers touch the ground - and the fingers are completely under the ball - if the ball subsequently touches the grass between spread fingers - the catch is still to be considered caught and not grounded. The interpretation is that the fingers are under the ball constitutes a catch. However, if the above scenario is reached - and the hand or fingers are on top of the ball and it touches the ground - it’s ‘grounded ‘ and not a fair catch.
With that being said - the carry on regarding the catch has been absolutely insane from not just Indian fans, but the Indian commentariat and sadly, Indian management. Even without the “new” interpretation - it looked a fair and clean catch and there was very little evidence to say otherwise. What’s worse, is that several players who played international cricket for over a decade and have been around the game their entire lives do not know the rules. Some of the comments by Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag and Sunil Gavaskar were simply wrong.

Dom Sibley waved in the direction of Bazball, and, with a shrug, turned the page. His century against Kent was the slowest in Championship history in terms of both balls faced (363) and minutes taken (502), his dogged innings coming to an end only with the winning runs – as Surrey hit 501 to win by five wickets. It was the second-highest successful run chase in County Championship history, behind only Middlesex’s 502 to beat Nottinghamshire in 1925.
Sibley’s doughty anchor allowed for Jamie Smith’s fireworks on Tuesday and for Ben Foakes’ free-flowing century today, in a chase that never looked in any doubt, despite the vastness of its scale. It was Sibley’s first century since he rejoined Surrey at the end of last season – “my first hundred for Surrey since I was at school,” he said. Surrey top the table by 32 points, playing on a higher plain.

Just because, the Ashes isn’t the only Test cricket being played.
Bangladesh is hosting Afghanistan, and after Day 3, Bangladesh is in total command thanks to tons in each innings by Shanto. AFG are 45/2 in their 2nd dig, needing only the small matter of 617 more to win….
BAN 382 & 425\4 dec, AFG 146 & 45/2…..

A couple of wickets for Broad means Aussies need a good partnership.
The decision to declare was bizarre. I could understand that in 2nd innings but not on first day when you have one of the best batsman in the world playing at such a good strike rate.

We have a thread specifically for the Ashes aj, but if you can't find it feel free to comment here.

WC qualifiers are in full swing.
Yesterday, Zimbabwe defeated Nepal, and West Indies made a bit of hash in defeating the USA.
Today, Sri Lanka are giving the UAE a bit of a touch up - 355/6 for the Lankans, UAE 107/4 off 22.
Oman are in a game up to their ears against Ireland : 143/2 off 23 chasing 282, 139 more off 162 with 8 wickets in hand - the Omani’s should be favourites from here…

Sri Lanka do the business by 175 against UAE. Wanindu Hasaranga picked up a casual 6/24 off 8 overs.
Oman got an upset win against Ireland, chasing 282 with 5 wickets and 11 balls in hand.
In case anyone wondered, there are 2 groups of five. Single round robin, with the top 3 from each group qualifying for a super six.
Super six is 3 further games, against the teams from the opposite group, with points carried over for games against fellow group members.
After that, top 2 qualify for the World Cup.
Group A is West Indies, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, USA and Nepal Group B is Sri Lanka, Oman, Scotland, Ireland and UAE.

WC qualifiers today - Zimbabwe lathered Netherlands, chasing down 316 with 9 overs and 6 wickets in hand. Sikandar Raza with a ton and 4 wickets.
Nepal beat a disappointing USA, who at one stage were 4/18 off 9.2 overs. Aren’t winning many games from there. The star for the Nepali’s was the man with the backwards name, Karen KC. 4 poles for the well built quick….

WC Qualifiers today :
Oman defeat UAE to go 2-0, and top their table. Still haven’t played Sri Lanka though.
In the other game, Scotland beat Ireland by 1 wicket off the last ball, chasing down 287. Ireland are now 0-2, and with only 2 games left and one of those against Sri Lanka, I doubt they even qualify for the super six from here…..

WC qualifiers today :
Netherlands eliminate the USA. Chased down 211 comfortably with 5 wickets and 40 balls to spare.
West Indies beat a Nepal by 101 runs, the Nepalis dropped Pooran on 1 and it would’ve been 4/58 in the 16th over. Instead he scored 115, in a partnership of 216 with Shai Hope and rocketed to 339/7. Nepal never looked likely, and they are looking likely to miss the super sixes.
Windies and Zimbabwe are both 2-0, Netherlands are 1-1, Nepal 1-2 and USA 0-3. Nepal have to beat Netherlands next, and make up a bit of NRR. Netherlands win and they are in and they can really supercharge their quest for the WC by beat WI and have that 2 points carry over. Both Zim and WI would have to have a choke of legendary status to miss from here.
