The First Omen (2024)An American novitiate is sent to work at a Catholic orphanage in Rome. With help of Father Brennan, she fights a sinister conspiracy to bring about the birth of the Antichrist. Hugely disappointing prequel to the 1976 classic. I found it slow-moving and dull. It completely distorts many elements of the original Omen legend. The mother is not a jackal. Father Brennan is not one of the conspirators like he was in the original (before he decided to redeem himself). The reasoning for bringing the Antichrist into the world was just plain stupid. And the filmmakers didn't explore the theme of satanism as well as they should have. I don't know if they are going to continue on with this reboot, but I would like to think this will actually be The Last Omen. 4/10 I agree with everything you've said and even the poster is crap.

1984 "A young couple is trapped in a remote town where a dangerous religious cult of children believes that everyone over age 18 must be killed." I might have seen this one before, if so I couldn't recall much. Seems rather lame by today's standards and might have been more frightening back then. Some of the special effects are rather awful. On the other hand it was made for under a million USD. The heroine was played by Linda Hamilton, before she became Sarah Connors of the Terminators. 5/10 It probably should never have been made at all. The film is an absolute waste of time.

Mr. Sardonicus 1961 directed by William Castle. A mysterious and cruel Baron, whose face has become frozen in a horrifying grin, demands that a prominent London physician apply experimental treatments on him to restore his face. The audience gets an opportunity to vote--via the "Punishment Poll"--for the penalty Sardonicus must pay for his deeds. Though well-made and the story is good, I must admit I found it slow and a bit dull. 6/10.

Terrifier 3 (2024)Art the Clown and his new sidekick Victoria (now possessed by the spirit of the Little Pale Girl) awaken from a deep slumber to cause more blood-soaked mayhem during the Christmas season. While this lacks the pizzazz of Terrifier 2, it's still a good freak show. Director Damien Leone really steps up the game with the gory set pieces; the chainsaw scene in particular was disgustingly amazing. It's pure Grand Guignol. The humor continues to be very dark, and David Howard Thornton is just as funny as ever as Art. 7/10
