Have you heard about the animal cruelty depictions controversary ? If it’s too distasteful then that wouldn’t surprise me. Gunn has an inability to discern what is tasteful and I wouldn’t be suprised if Disney dropped the ball again.

Gunn has an inability to discern what is tasteful and I wouldn’t be suprised if Disney dropped the ball again. The High Evolutionary is an absolute monster. In his goal to make a perfect race, he has no qualms about burning failed experiments. None of which are actual animals. They are what he has evolved so they are CGI. We have seen Rocket's scars. Is is so hard to understand that the scientist that could do that is on the level of Nazis in their pursuit of a master race? Or is it Kraglan calling Cosmo a bad dog the cruelty you speak of? That was tough

Well, I guess we know what part 4 is gonna be about:
Screen Rant exclusively interviewed Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. When asked about the idea of Star-Lord and Nebula getting together after the trailer's tease of the two having a romantic moment, Gillan shared her own pitch for an MCU rom-com centered on the cosmic duo, with Klementieff even chiming in with her hopes of how to appear in the film. See Gillan and Klementieff's humorous idea in the quotes and video below:
Karen Gillan: I actually could really see a His Girl Friday [for them]. Quippy back-and-forth, witty banter, and bickering.Pom Klementieff: Are you pitching a rom-com? That'd be so fun. Can I be in it too?Karen Gillan: Sure, yeah, come on in. Pom Klementieff: Will you be mean to me again?Karen Gillan: Not the rom-com. New rules!Pom Klementieff: I would love for Mantis to wear a beanie. In rom-coms, it's always Winter time or Fall. And will you have a cute outfit for Nebula?Karen Gillan: Maybe Nebula gets her arm stuck in a little grate on the floor or something, and then Star-Lord has to get right, and then they have a meet-cute. [She has on], like, a little cocktail dress. But with the arm out."
Also, doesn't this suggest they both survive the end of Vol.3?
The will return banner is "Star-Lord will return" so they have plans for him, but not for everyone else? EVERYONE ELSE. Yeah. Amazingly it feels like everyone but the villain got a happy ending. Loose ends tied up. It was nice to see Yondu. It was amazingly positive. Did Guardians die? Technically...

Is it just me, or does Adam Warlock look like a little gaylord? It might be a good actor, IDK, but he should look like a tough guy or at least not a gaylord. Remember who made him. Ayesha is a queen bitch, isn't she? The Sovereign are a pain in the ass race.

They're advertising the story. This is the story Gunn wrote (surely because he knew this was his last go round with these characters), so that's the 'angle' they're promoting. Its a good angle. This looks to be the first Marvel movie in a really long time that is a genuine creative endeavor by a passionate filmmaker. It could very well be the last too. My kid loved that this one is pretty self-contained. It doesn't think about the rest of the marvel universe. Adam is probably the only nod to the rest of the MCU. Maybe High Evolutionary. Like the comic, this sets up the new Guardians team. The comic changes crew from time to time.

merh yeah I had the conclusion spoiled on Reddit. I went in expecting a Guardian death when I saw it last night with my kid. I saw how Gunn filmed everyone dying just so no one knew who it was. Considering Brightburn & Gunn's dark superhero leanings, I bought into at least one death. We were forecast a death when Rocket said he didn't have all that long a lifespan in was it the first movie? I wasn't real happy with how Adam was portrayed, but it works in the long run. I didn't realize he was one of the original Guardians in the comics. I read him in his own series, just as I read the original Mar-Vell stuff & have little experience with the female character, though I very much loved the movie. I was happy with this one Better than the second. Real close to the first. Like maybe even equal. I could even see myself liking it more eventually. I see it again today with my sister so we shall see.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 has all the elements that made the previous 2 movies so good, minus two major exceptions: A) The tone is uneven; and B) The title sequence feels lazy (an issue that was also present in the holiday special they released in 2022). This sequel explores Rocket Racoon's backstory. Those scenes are presented as memories he's thinking about, but only a couple of times. Most of them happen without any rhyme or reason. Present-day Rocket isn't even present in a lot of the situations that are interrupted by these flashbacks. Why not cut to a brief shot of him before going back in time? That would serve as a proper transition. A lot of the M.C.U. installments feature the trope where it looks like one of the heroes is about to die but something/someone saves them at the last minute. That happens here with Star-Lord during the climax, and it's annoying as always. However, it also happens in an earlier scene and it's worse than usual. During a battle, Drax and Nebula are shot. Once the gang escapes, the two of them... are fine. Their injuries aren't really acknowledged. What the fuck?! At least Star-Lord's quasi-death generates a reaction from his friends, which is technically relevant to the script, but this is just a waste of time! After Gamora's death, a variant from another timeline showed up. This was clearly part of a plan to have a substitute (as a member of the team and as Star-Lord's girlfriend), but it doesn't end happening. That's right: The popular sci-fi/fantasy franchise refused the opportunity to undo a negative event and keep the audience satisfied. That takes balls! 7/10

I have had "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" stuck in my head since I saw this Thursday.
Stupid Alice Cooper cover song, not any of his incredible original songs, & it won't go away.
Because it was SO PERFECT. Starlord off on one of his hairbrained schemes & this song playing....

Best MCU film in years…one of the best all time. Such a great finale for Gunna Guardians trilogy.

You're talking about seconds in a 2 hour movie. I don't even remember it.

I'm not sure how this is even a criticism. It's an element of the movie, isn't? Besides, many would argue that creating a title sequence is an art form of its own. You're talking about seconds in a 2 hour movie. Minutes, actually. I don't even remember it. Exactly. That's the problem.

It was probably my least favorite of the three, but still really good. The Guardians are a solid crew with great chemistry and 3 good movies. Not all the heroes had great trilogies. That and Dr. Strange are the only newer ones I really liked. TV has been (mostly) good though. I was shocked {Spoiler}nobody died, but they did break up the team. Not exactly the same, but we're never seeing some of them again. Seems like Peter and Gamora really never will end up together, which was quite sad. So was Rocket's backstory, but very well done . Some of the action sequences were just insane. That hallway fight was fucking nuts. All the fights were good, but that one was just sick. Classic (awkward) Guardians humor and banter. I laughed a lot, but many people in my theater didn't. That was odd. Mantis continues to get better and better. Same for Nebula too, actually. Both are really funny. Drax is too, but the other two just came out of nowhere.
The villain was great. A real sicko.
