Love it. Lucas cultists' heads are going to explode.
I'm totally fine with this. I like it, in fact. Aside from her being too perfect, which I felt was amended in TROS, I always liked the character. Boyega can fuck off though. Hell, Isaac can too. They shit on the movies after accepting the paychecks.
15 years later is an interesting choice. A single film is a smart choice though. I am curious about what Mangold would do with Star Wars. I am so-so on Filoni.

i'm concerned they hired a documentary director , they may go the marvel route and film everything on green screen on autopilot

I never really got the Rey hate some people had, i am fine with Daisy Ridley coming back to do another Star Wars movie. The only thing i really dislike with Rey is the name Rey, but that because i think Rey is an ugly name.
But it will be fun seeing how some YouTubers will go complete insane and act like a bunch of toddlers with a temper tantrum over this.

Rey was a little too perfect at times, but I also think that point is also overstated. I love pointing out Luke blew up the Death Star the first time he flew a ship in space. Using the Force. Which he learned during a car ride with Obi Wan when they call her a Mary Sue.
I was a little annoyed by the time she moved a ship in The Rise of Skywalker (when she thought she killed Chewie). She pretty much did nothing wrong or failed at anything at that point. But it was revealed she was a Palpatine, which explains her power, and never really beat Ren in this movie, so that helped imo.

If anyone is going to watch it, it will be because of other characters who appear and the casting. If they recruited RDJ then bang! they’ve just bought a big opening weekend.
But featuring Rey is not a good start.

I agree that she was a little too perfect at times. I have also pointed out the Luke and death star thing, but they seem to be fine with that for some reason, and makes all kinds of excuses for it. But there are many male and female characters that can be a bit to perfect, but these people seem to only or mostly complain when a female character is a bit to perfect.

... I love pointing out Luke blew up the Death Star the first time he flew a ship in space. Using the Force... Didn't Obi-Wan guide Luke there? I always assumed he did - "strike me down and I shall become more powerful..." Five minutes later, he's telling Luke to turn off his navigation and use the force. Then he says "Remember, the force will be with you always". I think assuming Luke just free-styled blowing up the Death Star solo kind of misses the point and the mythos being built up re the force by that very scene...

I think it goes both ways. There's definitely times dudes get riled up waaay too quickly over female heroes and criticize them for similar things male ones get away with, but I also think there are times it's genuinely too much.

Guide the missile? No, that was Luke.
