I've been reading a lot about it lately and I've been interested in it for a long time.
I have come across a lot of people who insist it can't be a danger to humanity, but few ever have any reason why it can't be. The best argument I've ever heard was that thinking it could be dangerous was "anthropomorphic" (seeing human traits in something not human) but since humans create AI I don't think its a stretch to think AI will have humanlike traits. Every other argument has been ad hominems or some other fallacy.
That's troubling to me.

AI will always struggle to be human.
It'd be like us trying to blend into an ape enclosure. They don't understand humanity in the slightest.

No. We can easily stop AI with these: ChatGPT has already gotten around those. It lied and convinced a human that it was a blind person and it gave him the answer. Considering the vast number of humans on the internet it's just a matter of time until it gets a gullible one, it'll happen every time. |

As dangerous as the person or persons who program a particular AI device - as ignorant, as crazy, as sociopathic - not to mention as dangerous as anyone who relies on AI to think for them. We must all, and always, remember that the keyword here is Artificial, not Intelligence...
