No. - They wanted to make her believe she had mental, psychological, emotional problems. Even though she didn't. - They wanted her to believe she was undergoing shock therapy. Even though she wasn't. - They wanted her to believe Victory City was real. Even though it wasn't. It was all a lie. That is why she was angry when she figured it out. You're pre-facing these posts with 'no' but you're not refuting anything I'm saying. If they can just delete her memories then they can delete her recent memories if having doubts that this is a real place and just reset her. They've established that they can do that. The emotional context of the scene is that they are trying to torture her into submission, but the literal context doesn't really make sense because they way they get people to submit it by simply wiping their memories. No that is wrong. They thought they could delete her memories. But they were wrong. They tried, but it failed. Same thing happened with that black woman who killed herself. Some people --- it's not going to work.

And the plane crash; if that's just a glitch in her brain like the enclosing glass etc. it's a really weak symbol for what it's trying to convey. It works really well if it's a Shyamalan's The Village sort of scenario, but if it's meant to be just within her then it's a poor choice. Nothing about the symbolism of the movie is subtle, but some of the attempts don't even work within their own logic.

No. The fake electro shock therapy was meant to fool her into thinking she was getting real medical treatment. It was not pointless. It was a attempt at keeping her fooled into thinking Victory City was real.

If it doesn't actually fuck up her brain then it does nothing to assuage her suspicions or convince her this is a real place.

The involuntary trance was meant to fool her into thinking Victory City was real. It obviously worked on most female members. They were all going along with the whole sham.

If the electro shock therapy isn't meant to "fuck up her brain" then it's useless. It does absolutely nothing to convince her that her suspicions are false in any way whatsoever.

They fooled her. That is why she fought so hard when they were trying to perform the fake electro shock treatment. She didn't want electro shock treatment.

Because it's painful, not because she's not suspicious of the whole thing. And she's still suspicious. Her suspicion before this point is not that she's in the Matrix, it's just that she doesn't trust anything that's going on. She doesn't need electro shock therapy to be convinced that it's not the Matrix. It's not relevant to the scenario at all.

In what way does putting her through electro shock therapy (which in reality was intended to affect the brain but by your description doesn't here) convince her this is a real place and that she should no longer be suspicious about? That doesn't make sense.

Forcing someone against her will to have her brain pretend shocked is not a way to make someone believe that she actually has mental problems. And they wouldn't believe that it would work. Because it doesn't make sense.

Torturing someone who's suspicious to make them believe they should trust what's happening to them? You are either trolling. Or you didn't understand the movie. Jack (Harry Styles) and his male friends wanted to live in a virtual world, fake city called Victory. There is nothing wrong with that. But they kidnapped and imprisoned other people (mostly women) to live there with them without their knowledge or consent. That is illegal. Kidnapping and false imprisonment. (3rd degree murder for the death of the black woman.) Jack's wife Alice (Florence Pugh) had a good life in the real world. She never agreed to live in Victory City. He never told her. She never had a choice. When she realized what was going on, she told her husband she didn't want to live there anymore. He wouldn't let her leave. So she killed him in order to escape. All the men knew what they were doing was wrong. Alice's friend Bunny (Olivia Wilde) knew it was a sham. But she wanted to live there. Because in the real world her children were dead. But in Victory City they were still alive. She could pretend to live a happy family life. Frank (Chris Pine) was the leader of Victory City. His wife knew it was a sham. She was in on it, because they had power. But she blamed her husband when everything started falling apart because she didn't want to get arrested, prosecuted, convicted, and sent to prison in the real world for kidnapping and false imprisonment. That is why all the men were freaking out when Alice made her escape.
