Ariel as a mermaid IS NOT EUROPEAN. She is an ocean creature. I still say Grey, blue, or green makes sense. thorshairspray isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed…. I know this is complicated, Shays, but try to bear with me. Leigong is a Chinese God of Storms. He isn't real, but he comes from Chinese mythology. Thus he is Chinese. The Little Mermaid is not real, but she comes from Northern European mythology. She is Northern European. Mami Wata is an African water spirit. She isn't real. She comes from African mythology. She is African. Now lets say I made films about those three characters. What race would you expect them to be? See how I'm logically consistent and you lot are full of shit?

Marvel made Frost giants blue. Nine Worlds consist of Ásgarðr, Vanaheimr, Álfheimr, Miðgarðr, Jötunheimr, Múspellsheimr, Svartálfaheimr, Niflheimr (sometimes Hel), and perhaps Niðavellir. So were the Dark Elves white? They are part of Norse Mythology. So there can be dark Elves in Svartálfaheimr, but all mermaids are white? Is it possible Vikings ran into other groups in their travels so they could imagine other skin colors than their own?

So the 9 worlds/realms are 1 Asgardr where the gods dwell 2 Vanaheimr where the gods they fought dwell 3 Alfheimr land of Elves/Light Elves 4 Midgardr or Earth 5 Jotunheimr land of jötnar 6 Muspelheim land of fire 7 Svartálfaheimr land of Dark Elves 8 Niflheimr Hell 9 Niðavellir land of Dwarves So the Norse myths specifically cited Dark Elves who made the chains to bind Fenrir So, yes. The Prose Edda attests to Svartálfaheimr, the place where black elves lived. Meaning the Norse knew there were people who looked different from themselves.

As did many older cultures that sailed and traded, like the Olmec. ;)

The Vikings used to harvest narwal tusks and sell them as unicorn horns to the gullible.

Wow that’s rich! A Brit having the nerve to say “stealing our shit”. A country that’s raped and pillaged the four corners of the earth. You're American......you literally stole a continent....And genocided the natives. But its adorable you think you can point fingers.... Wait a minute. I thought the White people are not supposed to feel guilty about that.

The Portuguese. They and the former Vikings were secretly fishing off the Grand Banks for decades before Columbus set sail. We always forget about the fishermen.

So white people can write narratives in the person of another race, but a writer of another race can't touch White narratives. Okay, nothing colonial about that.

I tend to side with Graham Handcock when it comes to how much humanity has lost/forgotten over time.

He's too far out in nutjob land, but yeah, there is a lot of untold history ignored.

Intersectional feminism, pro immigration, white guilt, DEI That was your own inherent prejudices seeing that stuff....I just saw a poorly structured story with weak characters.... When the Numenórian that is going to cause the fall of Numenór is telling "elves took our jerbs" who do you think is being referenced? I mean, I give credit to the creators for not putting them in red hats with the words "make Numenór great again".

I thought the White people are not supposed to feel guilty about that. Heaven forbid we started out as British citizens. They never stole continents or tried to build empires... Canada also has had their issues, haven't they? The various native tribes weren't above rape, pillage & plunder.

I did not disagree with that aspect of it....that was a blatant shot at right wing anti immigration folks...
