If there are troubled gay people in the world, who the frick do you think is responsible for it?
You sound like you have a lot to unpack, due to your burden of a fixed mindset of what humanity is and represents. You still need to convince me that it needs to be preserved.
If you think humanity should not exist, I'm not sure we have anything to discuss. My pessimism never goes that far. He wants a process created to decide who should and who shouldn’t have children and introduce measures to prevent the wrong people from having children.

Have you ever wanted to have a child Toastie, and how do you feels about cats and dogs? I never wanted to have a child. Its not in my genes or makeup. It is beneath me.
I didn't either, but ... Why would it be be beneath you to love, feed, clothe, nurture and protect a little person? It's hard, and I didn't do a good job with the childhood years, but I am trying to make up for lost time now. It's a long road Toaste.
As for animals, fur babies are substitutes. I've had cats as pets and can appreciate others animals in small doses, but I will never go down that track again.
None of the cats and dogs who shared parts of my life were ever substitutes for anything Toastie. They got there on merit. Apropos of nothing really, there are dogs and there are dogs, find a breed that fits with you, and whose spirit you can see. Dogs are high maintenance, but whatever you put in is gonna come back to you 1000 times over. There's something to be said for unconditional love and undying loyalty, and that's what a great dog will give you.

I know what I am capable of giving.
That is my whole point, why do I want to love, nurture and clothe a little person? For what purpose, other than the self-gratification one. No thanks! It holds no value for me, nor for others to think they are so special for raising a kid. They just make things worse, not only for themselves, but the kid and others.

You will have to learn that you don’t speak for all gay men. The gay men that want children want them for the same reason heterosexuals or gay women want them. Most of them adopt - and children that are up for adoption are already deprived of two parents through various circumstances. Giving them 2 mother, 2 fathers, or even a single parent of either sex is better than the foster care system. The main thing children need are nurturing and caring parents. Role models of both sexes can be available through extended family, aunts, uncles, grandparents. I know a gay male couple who have adopted two older handicapped children. Those are men who really care. They don't want a doll or a prop.
And there are plenty of older and handicapped children who need adoptive parents.
But a newborn or an infant? There are plenty of heterosexual couples looking to adopt them.
It's just wrong for gay men to cut in line and swoop up those kinds.
Really, a child needs a mother.
I wouldn't even go down the route of adopting a handicapped kid, but each to their own. They are more like saviors of the broken spawn that breeders drop and it takes on a whole new level of care. One would have to have certain qualifications and vocational experience as well, to take this on.

Toastie, my parents didn't think they were special for raising three kids, but they did a damn good job of it. Without my parents and how they raised my brothers and I and loved us and cared for us I wouldn't be half the person I am today.

It shouldn't be used as a crutch to advocate for child rearing. You could be considered one of the luckier ones, although your life has still been fraught with many challenges.
I have seen the most despicable attitudes from the straight societal construct and the ignorance that ensues. Breeders are their own worst enemy and fail to see it.

And gay people have family besides children. They have nieces, nephews, cousins, children of friends, etc. So, to say gay people have no consequential interest in children is one other the most homophobic things posted here lately. You remind me when the Vietnam War was going on and we see little kids napalmed on the nightly news, the going explanation was, their parents don't love their children like we do.

And gay people have family besides children. They have nieces, nephews, cousins, children of friends, etc. So they channel their reproductive instinct into love for their family. I understand that. But how does this affect their behaviour and decision making on both personal and social levels? I mean, as a parent I constantly have to put "they need" over "I want". The way I see the society I live in and its political culture has changed, because I need it to survive so my children could have a life here. But is this simply my way of integrating my biological programming or is this something more?

But at least one person in this thread stated that everything we do is about selfishness.
