No, that's in the U.S. The concentration among gay males is regional, not global.
Globally HIV is just as prevalent among straights as gays.
Presumably, the OP is talking about the West and the USA. Otherwise his post doesn't make a lot of sense. But come on. You don't actually believe straight people have AIDS at the same rate, do you? The stats don't bear that out. We don't have 22 times the rate.

Cool. I don't live in Africa or Asia, though I suspect that many of those so-called straight people with AIDS are having gay sex and claiming to be straight as it's illegal to be gay in those countries. In the West, AIDS is way more common among gay men, as is suicide and drug abuse. Why would this not magically be the case in other countries?

And clearly, Heretic has not looked at statistics on transmission rates via IV drug use or blood transfusions and organ donation. That risk has lessened now that screening blood products is firmly in place, in the first world, but sadly, IV drug users don't engage in screening. It was NEVER just a gay disease, it has always been a transmissible infectious disease. Time to stop blaming it on the gay community. And if the gay community hadn't been so vocal about getting medical research done, we wouldn't know what we do at this point in time. Reagan lied about funding research, the CDC was denied even the most basic equipment and staffing. Viruses don't care what you 'identify' as, they just look for suitable hosts to infect. |

Oy vey. HIV is acquired through sexual intercourse, both anal and vaginal. Straights can get it just like gays can.
We know it began in Africa among heterosexuals. 28% of the adults in the African country of Eswatini have HIV. That's heterosexuals who acquire it through vaginal intercourse.
It entered the West via a gay male airline steward and the epidemic started among us first. So it's localized here among gay men. That's not the case allover the world.

Sigh. No one is saying that straight men can't get it. However, gay men are far more promiscuous on average and far more likely to have anal sex. Anal sex is way riskier when it comes to STDs.
