VP Lingajothy asked for £10,000 to invent a horrific back story to use in the asylum application. This included claims of sexual torture, beatings, slave labour, false imprisonment and death threats that left him suicidal and compelled to flee to the UK.
The legal adviser promised he could get a doctor’s report to back up the story and produced anti-depressants to be given to the Home Office as ‘evidence’ of psychological trauma.

I am sure this happens a lot. Of course it does. Also, the people crossing in boats routinely dump their passports and other identity docs in the English Channel, if not before. We’re being played for suckers … and it’s big money business for a lot of people. The Guardian would never acknowledge that, which is piss poor journalism. |

I do not think that Labour does support this practice... They are guilty of turning a blind eye to it. With some crimes, that is a crime in itself. |

I wonder what percentage of Asylum Seekers here are genuine refugees rather than economic migrants. My guess would be well below 50%. I know there are 'stats' saying it's much more than 50% but I simply don't believe that. I believe they take what applicants are claiming at face value too readily. |
