Not always easy to work out though. For instance, China has the highest overall CO2 emissions, but it's per capita emissions are only marginally worse than the UK's (and considerably better than the USA's). You also have to factor in that a lot of manufacturing and energy extraction is done in the Third World on behalf of First World countries, essentially outsourcing pollution. I think nearly every country needs to improve drastically though definitely some more than others. For this reason, I see no real issue with JSO applying pressure to the UK to improve and linking with pressure groups in other countries. But their tactics are all wrong. You're not going to build a strong grass roots movement to pressure government when your tactics punish normal people. Couple of issues here: Firstly your statement "China's per capita emissions are only marginally worse than the UK's" is completely untrue. The figures aren't even close: if you look them up here, for instance, China's pc emissions in 2020 were 8.2 tonnes per person while UK's were 4.66. That's not just 'marginally' worse, it's nearly double. And China has 1.5 billion people! Does that not worry the shit out of you? It does me.
Secondly nearly every country is improving. The website I linked helpfully shows the per capita emissions in 2017 as well as 2020 and you can see that UK, France, Germany and Italy (for instance) all reduced these by around 17.5% to 20% within these three years. Even the US reduced theirs by around 13%. China? Not a chance. Theirs went up by 6.5%. I don't have any data from beyond 2020 but I've a shrewd idea that China's per capita emissions have continued on the same path.
Do the morons in JSO ever look at these figures and wonder what the fuck they are doing, causing misery in countries that are trying tp improve while ignoring the countries that are really fucking up the planet? Or are they just too full of themselves to notice?

A better idea which should also avoid people being done for assault would be for a team of big burly types to pick the slow protesters up and put them down in a safe place. If they object just say it’s being done as a health and safety measure.

I'd be pissed if I was stuck in traffic too.
But it's a legitimate protest over a legitimate issue, and the mother was late for a baby's doctor appointment? Big deal. Everybody has an emergency.
If the child's life was in danger she would have called an ambulance. You don't drive the poor kid in rush hour traffic. The woman was lying.
That being said, if I was that guy, I would have let just the one car through.

It seems then China has indeed got worse since then. I do think it is still relevant though that it is 'the factory of the world". If it refused to take on so much manufacturing work to reduce emissions, businesses would probably just go to another country whose emissions would rise accordingly.

Its not a legit protest, they are breaking the law and interfering with the rights of UK citizens. Their demands are retarded and will never be given in to. Hopefully one gets run over soon.

They don't care. Its not about the planet, its about them.

I didn't hear her say it was an emergency. She probably had an appointment but we don't know if it's an urgent appointment that would be difficult to rearrange or just a regular check-up. Either way people still have the right to be pissed off Anyway, one of my favourite news stories from recent years...

I just think it's hilarious how the OP guided y'all to be indignant over some dumb woman suffering a traffic inconvenience.
Nah, it's like any protest. I could've been a civil rights march. Protests disrupt traffic. What, do you propose protests be banned? Maybe if we lived in China.

Nobody (as far as I know) has called for these protests to be banned but if they fuck with ordinary folk they could end up going to hospital. Hopefully a bunch of mums with buggies demanding proper childcare facilities will get in the way. BTW, why are you calling the woman dumb? First you say she’s lying and now you insult her intelligence. Are mothers not supposed to get pissed off if a bunch of folk decide to stage an unauthorised street protest when they need to get their babies to hospital appointments? Should she have set off two hours earlier just in case a herd of zombies wearing visibility jackets decide to go for a casual walk?

We have traffic jams all the time and it's usually because a bunch of drivers ahead slow down to watch some fool change a flat tire on the side of the road. Big deal. I guess London is such a small laid back city that you never have traffic jams?
And now you're suggesting violence against protestors because they inconvenience you?
Also, who has hospital appointments? What, like the baby was having surgery? She was taking the squalling brat to a doctor's appointment. Otherwise she would have called an ambulance. That was not an emergency. Poor mothers take their kids on the bus to their doctor appointments. That twat was inconvenienced like everybody else. So who did you wanna batter?
Next thing you'll tell me you're Kyle Rittenhouse and you're gonna start shooting protestors. When did you join the BNP?

I was not suggesting violence but their behaviour causes unnecessary frustrations which have already resulted in physical action. That "twat" was on her way to an appointment and got angry. Of course the footage is being exploited but why the fuck are you still insulting her (and now her child)? Have you never been to a hospital appointment? Does it have to be a life or death situation? And fuck off with that BNP bullshit. I've been assaulted by those cunts. As usual you are twisting people's words and in this case it's fucking offensive.

I'm insulting her because there were probably thousands of commuters affected by that protest, but she alone thinks she is so special that she alone should be allowed to cross the protest line. The headline makes it sound like hers was an emergency. It was not life and death.
That's what I especially do not like, the deceptive way in which the story was presented. And the fact the everyone is lining up to support violence against protestors.

I was assaulted for going to see three bands playing at a non-political music performance along with many others that night. You are annoyed at how the story is represented and I agree with you on that but people have the right to get angry. Did she say she was special? Of course she didn't. She said she was taking her baby to the hospital, nothing more. And she had every right to cross their "protest line". That's why these people are often "moved on" by the police.

In the UK I have the right to travel. This means I can use roads lawfully. These cunts are interfering with the rights of normal people. They are also breaking the law regards blocking roads. The government has just brought in repressive legislation in the UK to clamp down on protests and nobody complained and its because of these wankers pissing everyone off. So not only have they caused massive inconvenience, blocked the emergency services and caused actual harm to come to more than one person that couldn't get to a hospital, they are restricting the right of travel directly and have caused a restriction of our right to protest generally. So well done I guess. And its not like the UK is doing nothing about climate, we already pay a 25% surcharge on energy bills to subsidise "Green Energy" and we've closed every coal power station we had except one that closes next year.
