USS MOBILE BAY DECOMMISSIONS, HONORS 36 YEARS OF SERVICE
On the positive side, I don't think China has built any yet, but if they keep building destroyers, they're going to have enough to match ours one-for-one someday. Personally, I think the money used to build those silly "littoral combat ships" would have been better spent keeping the Mobile Bay and other ships in service longer, but hey, what do I know? I'm just an armchair admiral. Okay, hit it. I've been talking about this for years, and the peanut gallery is always there to LOL and tell me I'm imagining things. Go on, do it, fellas. It's what you do. EDIT -- Yes, I know ships can be put back into commission, but that takes time....time we might not have if war breaks out.

All of Chinas combat vessels are designed for local coastal defence, and possibly to invade Taiwan. The US has the 11 largest ships ever built, supercarriers with hundreds of attendant missile destroyers and frigates, designed to go anywhere on the planet and lay waste to any city. I don't seriously think America has anything to worry about unless you want to attack China. Quite possible because America has been by far the most belligerent and aggressive country on earth since WW2, destroying whole countries in its zeal to exert hegemony over everybody else. l

For decades China had a navy that was in actuality a coast guard. For the least several years they have been building a real actual blue-water navy. It shifts the balance of power in that part of the world. The US and British navies are in decline. Some people may think the Chinese are backward and stupid, but I don't. They know exactly what they are doing.

The US still has many more and the largest aircraft carriers, carrying the most sophisticated aircraft and missiles. Only delusionals would think it is in decline, with continuing higher funding than the rest of the workd put together.

Two American aircraft carriers have decommissioned recently. In the past the policy was to have more aircraft carriers than the rest of the countries combined, but the US can't afford to do that anymore. And only Sith deal in absolutes.

And another one down, USS Lake Champlain. It goes into reserve like USS Mobile Bay did earlier. As I said, ships in reserve can be brought back into commission, but it takes time which might not be available in the event of war. When the Chinese make a go for Taiwan, I doubt they're going to advertise it in advance. I wouldn't if I were them. US Navyโs Tico fleet nears 50% strength as USS Lake Champlain departsSeveral years ago, in response to China the Indian Navy began improving, but now with India and China both members of BRICS it's harder for me to imagine them fighting each other. The US Navy has five fleets, but the one in the Pacific is the one being stripped down, apparently. Or at least that's the one I'm always hearing about on my news feed.
