Where they finish is irrelevant. They have to be willing to break the bank and buy top class players who are already top class players. Liverpool spent the 90s and 00s investing in youth, buying cheap foreigners and hoping they'd become world beaters (rarely happened) and they won the occasional cup but got nowhere near the league title. Liverpool are now a club that is spending silly money on defenders like Van Dijk. In 2008, United's attacking players were Tevez, Ronaldo, Rooney, Saha. Today their attacking players are Lukaku, Rashford, Martial. Not good enough. I'd still like to know why you don't consider De Gea a class player? I'm talking about outfield players. |
