It's going to be Marvel Studios first TV-MA rated series. I was surprised to hear about that. Looking at the trailer, it’s got the Netflix Marvel level of violence to it.

During the press junket for Marvel's new Echo TV series, Executive producer Brad Winderbaum addressed the challenges that Marvel Studios has faced in recent years – and what the studio has learned from them: We've learned a lot," Winderbaum admitted. "We produced a lot of content very quickly, and we're primarily a filmmaking company. So, you can see that our first round of shows have a very movie-like structure: they arc-out the characters by the end; they feel like a standalone limited series."

Echo herself isn't a huge draw for me, but with Kingpin and Daredevil, this does look good. Fisk alone is a draw.

She’s female, an ethnic minority and has two disabilities and I’m guessing is LGBT+. Her character is critic-proof. Any critic who doesn’t praise her is every kind of ‘-ist’ imaginable.

I am not aware of his disability being used as critic-armor. But Echo does not have a following, as evidenced by the fact that her entire power-set was changed for her screen adaptation. So why does she have her own series?

I don't even know Echo. I'll say this though after seeing the trailer. Fisk has Loki potential in terms of being a next MCU MVP. Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk is one of my favourite of all MCU performances. I adore that man (D'Onofrio).

You might have a point with Guardians but Ant-Man, Black Widow, Black Panther and especially Dr. Strange are way more popular than Echo... even before their respective shows. You're literally comparing B and C tier heroes to possibly an E or F tier. Even among comicbook fans, Echo is an extremely obscure character.

My guess is that they liked the actress and character while making Hawkeye and decided to do some more things with her. By giving her a show they have another piece of content for Disney+

By your logic, there shouldn't have been a Netflix Luke Cage show.
