I think it’s pretty funny that anyone would call that “torture”. It just goes to show how inflated the pro-Pal rhetoric is. That's not pro-Pal rhetoric. You're not getting it because you're determined to not get it, but that could be civilians under the gun of soldiers in Myanmar or civilians being interrogated by the North Korean military and it would still be the same. It's the tactic that I find grotesque. If you did too it shouldn't matter who it's happening to, or what uniform the army that's doing it is wearing. |

I don’t know what to make of that photo. It is not a prison, it is a desert. You can’t strip search in a kneeling position. They seemed lined up on the ledge of …. something out in the wilderness. I didn't realize that's what those men were accused of. The IDF said they were "suspects". If they were enemy combatants I could see it, even though I find it underwhelming, but these people haven't been charged with anything, least of all shooting vaginas. No one is defending that. I'm being accused of defending something I've never defended in my life. I know you know you've never seen that, so why are you jumping on it like it's true? More and more, those trying to defend Israel's continued human rights abuses seem to ignore the point and argue a separate point that no one was in favour of anyway. Of course, the inability to distinguish between civilian and combatant is 100% the fault of Hamas. The likelihood of a surrendering Palestinian concealing a weapon or a bomb is also their fault. I'm not sure I recall actually calling it torture. I said it was dehumanizing and disgusting. I don't think I actually called it torture directly though. Can you quote me on that? I argued, as the article explained, that they were "suspects" and not confirmed Hamas fighters. I repeated that human rights lawyers are looking into whether this could constitute a war crime, which I think depends on the credibility of the allegations against them, but I don't recall explicitly calling this torture. I'll check to be sure, but I don't think I did. |
