Austrian actress Elisabeth Trissenaar has left us at the age of 79, on January 14th. Established herself as a theatre actress during the mid 1960's. During the 1970's she began her collaboration with Rainer Werner Fassbinder, under his direction she was in works such as The Stationmaster's Wife ( Bolwieser, 1977), In a Year of 13 Moons (1978), The Marriage of Maria Braun (1979), and in the television series of Alfred Döblin's Berlin Alexanderplatz (1980). Also, she played leading roles in Robert van Ackeren's films The Other Smile (1978) and Purity of Heart ( Die Reinheit des Herzens, 1980), in the Oscar-nominated film Angry Harvest ( Bittere Ernte, 1985), and in Xaver Schwarzenberger's Franza (1987). She retired from acting in 2010. She is remembered by Tiroler TageszeitungR.I.P. Elisabeth Trissenaar

English composer Laurie Johnson has left us at the age of 96, on January 16th. He wrote scores for dozens of film and television series. From the 1960's to the 1980's he composed over fifty themes and scores, including the theme used on This Is Your Life (entitled "Gala Performance"), The Avengers (from 1965), Animal Magic (entitled "Las Vegas"), Jason King, The New Avengers and The Professionals. His film scores included The Good Companions, The Moonraker (1958), Tiger Bay, Dr. Strangelove, First Men in the Moon, You Must Be Joking!, And Soon the Darkness, Captain Kronos – Vampire Hunter and Diagnosis: Murder (the 1975 Christopher Lee film). He is remembered by BBCR.I.P. Laurie Johnson

American singer-songwriter Melanie (or Melanie Safka) has left us at the age of 76, on January 23rd. Perhaps best known for the 1971–72 global hit "Brand New Key", plus her 1970 version of "Ruby Tuesday", which was originally written and recorded by the Rolling Stones, her composition "Look What They've Done to My Song Ma", and her 1970 international breakthrough hit "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)" (inspired by her experience of performing at the 1969 Woodstock music festival). She wrote and performed the songs for Stanley Kramer's R.P.M. 1970. Her music appears on many soundtracks. She is remembered by VarietyR.I.P. Melanie
