American television director and producer Rod Holcomb has left us at the age of 80, on January 24th. He directed episodes of numerous television series. In 1979, his directing debut was the television film Captain America. In 1994, he directed pilot episode of ER, for which he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and won a Directors Guild of America Award. In 1996, he directed the episode " Last Call" and was nominated for another Primetime Emmy. He returned to the show in 2009 to direct its final episode and received a Primetime Emmy for doing so. American actor, director and former football linebacker Carl Weathers has left us at the age of 76, on February 1st. His roles included boxer Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films (1976–1985), Colonel Al Dillon in Predator (1987), and Combat Carl in the Toy Story franchise. He also portrayed Det. Beaudreaux in the television series Street Justice (1991–1993) and a fictionalized version of himself in the comedy series Arrested Development (2004, 2013), and voiced Omnitraxus Prime in Star vs. the Forces of Evil (2017–2019). He had a recurring role as Greef Karga in the Star Wars series The Mandalorian (2019–2023), for which he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. American actor, singer, dancer, and dance instructor Hinton Battle has left us at the age of 67, on January 30th. He won three Tony Awards, all in the category of Featured Actor in a Musical. He was the first to portray the Scarecrow in the stage version of The Wiz (a role then taken on by Michael Jackson in the 1978 film adaptation). English actor Michael Jayston has left us at the age of 88, on February 5th. He played Nicholas II of Russia in the film Nicholas and Alexandra (1971). He also made many television appearances, which included portraying Peter Guillam in 1979 miniseries Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, playing the Valeyard in all fourteen episodes of the Doctor Who serial The Trial of a Time Lord (1986). Other movies included Cromwell 1970, Tales That Witness Madness 1973, The Internecine Project 1974, Zulu Dawn 1979 and Highlander III: The Final Dimension 1994. He is remembered by Sky NewsR.I.P. English stage, film and television actor Ian Lavender has left us at the age of 77, on February 2nd. He is best known for his role at age 22 as Private Pike in Dad's Army 1968 - 1977, a BBC sitcom set during World War II, of which he was the last surviving main cast member. British novelist and science fiction writer Christopher Priest has left us at the age of 80, on February 2nd. His works include "Fugue for a Darkening Island", "The Inverted World", "The Affirmation", "The Glamour", "The Prestige", and "The Separation". His 1995 novel "The Prestige" was made into a movie 2006. He also wrote movie tie-in novelisations to Short Circuit 1986 (as Colin Wedgelock), Mona Lisa 1986 (as John Luther Novak) and eXistenZ 1999.
