The idea standardized tests are meaningless and GPA are the way to go is a pile of malarkey. I can schmooze my way to As and Bs. Hell some schools seem to hand them out just for attending classes and making an effort. However given 80 minutes to answer 58 math questions to the best of my ability - there is a lot less of a gimme there.

I never took the SAT or ACT and ended up with a bachelor's in chemical engineering... way before COVID.

As my school counselor stated I "blew the doors off' of our testing..........and pissed off a few of the Honor Students for ruining the curve.
So there's a bit of kinetic vs potential there, as well.

I mean, what accredited school wouldn't require a Chem E to take the SAT or ACT? Chem E is a lot harder than most other engineering majors, which are no walks in the park to begin with. Did you get your degree from the Virgin Islands or something?

Lol Sounds like you had business sense that colleges can't teach and knew how to make it work by being self-sufficient. I mean, you did get married, start a business, and raise two kids, did you not? That's the American dream.

Standardized testing is the one area where I really shine. My GPA was goodish but not a standout or anything. My work ethic is barely there. My extra curriculars were non-existent. But I sure know how to fill in bubbles.
