The field of anthropology is as susceptible to political fads as other liberal arts.It was not oppression. It was a necessity. For almost all of history of out species humans struggled to outbreed death. Males needed to resist, overcome and master their environments. Women needed to pop out babies. Period. In our times it is oppression, because even the most backward cultures can do better or, at the very least, can see examples of how to do it better. You don’t know a goddamn thing about it. That’s pure propaganda. Well, no... I don't think so. I know you are in the field but I read quite a bit and have been for the last 35 years or so. And I remember very well how the Soviet anthropology worked and how anthropology used to be in the (nominally) free world. Nowadays it's a lot more like the Soviet kind. |

When we were kids, my Dad used to joke that he was the head of the family and our Mom was like a Vice-President.
He made all the important decisions about things like America’s relationship with China.
My Mom made the lesser decisions such as whether the family should get a new house or a new car.
He was kidding but it was actually true. He was a substantial breadwinner but Mom had the babies and ruled the nest.

I didn’t watch the video, but to answer the question, yes. Girls are trained from a young age that their “virginity” is supposed to be a gift to their male partners. Boys aren’t taught that. Girls are made to sign “purity pledges” to to their fathers, which is really sick. Virginity is used to oppress women and girls. Sounds like you're a proponent of “young girls” loosing their virginity. Pedophiles applaud. |

I dispute that there is\was\has been some inherent evil intent or a genetic flaw. This happened so our species could survive and thrive. Now, of course, we fully mastered our environment and therefore should put this all behind us, encourage women to fully compete and utilize their talents. |

There was no such thing as effective birth control for most of human history. Abortion was sketchy and dangerous for the mother at best.
