If we can assure this process won't be abused, yes, I know I would. But I would need actual safeguards written into any law that comes up.
Let me give you an example. Under Obama he tired to use the no fly list as a database of people of who should not be allowed to own a gun. The problem with this idea is that there are too many people on the no fly list that shouldn't be on it, and the process to remove your name is not an easy process. Which is why the ACLU fought the Obama administration on this plan and it was ultimately dropped.

NRA supports this?
I wouldn't know because I consider NRA to be a giant rip-off. I sent my last donation to them so long ago that they stopped calling me and eventually stopped sending me their junk on the mail.

And just like Background Checks, if your name is too similar to a bad guy's name.......you may be hassled and delayed repeatedly.

Do you think something 'should be done' about people with mental health issues?
There's been several in the news, usually around subways, that should be shot dead, imo

Yes, first don’t let them buy guns.

The NRA is a grift thinly disguised as an advocacy group. So, the sooner there are serious people on the 2A advocacy side, the better.

The ones I've heard about didn't have or use guns But their victims sure could have saved the rest of us more hassles by killing their asses

If the Govt wasn't trying to infringe non-stop............there'd be no reason or excuse to grift

Well yes, because it's purely a fear-based and stigmatizing belief that people with mental health issues should be deprived of their individual civil liberties without the due process of law of the safety of those who assume they have no mental health issue themselves.

Not to mention...if you ever grieved the loss of a parent/loved one and sought some counselling for that difficult time in your life...finding some of your civil liberties culled for that doesn't seem right, does it? Of course, ofunknownorigins doesn't imagine that scenario ever occurring. But the reality is, nothing in those broad strokes ensures that it doesn't.

Mine haven't. They ask if I feel safe at home, it's a routine question they are required to ask.

If they ask, I'll invite them to the range with me.
