Good grief! No-one has mentioned the actual best sci-fi film ever: Starship Troopers You're right. Now we'll have to fill out Form 12-40 A, get our gear, and take a stroll down Washout Lane. Before it comes up, I read the book for this one too, and it stunk, but the movie was great.

Catman is rather fond of the bad sci-fi films from the 50s. Does Catman like movies that are of the Ed Wood variety? Some that have been riffed on by MST3K are among my favorites from that era, e.g. The Beginning Of The End & Rocketship X-M. A couple more that I have reviewed on the Classic Film board weekly thread recently: The Magnetic Monster (1953) and The Day The Sky Exploded (1958).
